I have never had any kind of sex (oral, genital, etc.) and nobody but me has ever touched my genitals. Yet, about a year ago, I began having itching, painful blisters on my pubic area (not on my genitals, but just the hair in my pubic area). I was convinced I got herpes from toilet seats as i was lactose-intolerant at the time (but didn't know it yet) and had daily, painful stomach cramps and diarrhea, so I was spending tons of time at work everyday sitting on the uncovered toilet seats at my workplace. It was usually impossible for me to cover the toilet seats with tissue because the cramps were so painful, and when I had to go, I REALLY had to go.
But I checked online and all the sources were pretty insistent on their claim that you absolutely cannot get herpes from an inanimate object, and that herpes virus is too fragile to last outside of the body and blah blah blah.
So I ignored the blisters, used ointment and band-aids (didn't really work) and eventually the itching subsided and the blisters reduced in size and painfulness. I've been having recurrent incidences once in a while, but I've been too busy to worry. I currently have one and I plan to visit family and friends soon and I'm worried I might spread it to them. I obviously got herpes from having no sex so I might have some strange new hyper-contagious strain of herpes that has evolved the ability to transfer itself from person to person without actual sex.
I searched around online for other diseases that might cause bumps specifically in the pubic area but all the ones I found were bacterial infections that produce boils that look NOTHING like the ones I have. I recently popped the blisters I have and no pus came out (ruling out bacterial infection). Nothing came out and I popped deeper with the pin and blood poured out, the blood seemed slightly diluted and so it must have been mixed in with some mystery fluid from the blister which, as I read online, is a sign of herpes. Herpes discharges are a clear liquid. So now I'm totally confused and frustrated. Every person online who talks about their herpes always mentions that it happened sometime after sex. I HAVE NEVER HAD SEX IN ANY FORM, NOT EVEN KISSED ANYONE. My religion strictly prohibits fornication. This is so confusing and annoying because I don't know how i got it and don't know who I'm spreading it to. If I could get this infection without sex, who knows who I've spread it to ? As I mentioned, it might be some crazy strain that infected me through some non-sexual way, and who knows who I've spread it to in a similar way ?
I apologize for rambling for so long but I just needed to rant, I've spent the last few days reading through hundreds of posts from people ascribing their herpes infection to sex and I feel so unlucky and annoyed that this happened to me. I know it's herpes because I've compared what I have to pictures online and that combined with the clear fluid and blood that ooze out when I popped one of them, combined with the fact that I have flare ups now and then points to nothing other than herpes. I've done my homework, the blisters are NOT pus-filled so I have ruled out bacterial infections. But then the counter-arguments are that I've never had sex and the blisters are not on my penis but on my pubic hair. Does anyone know what is going on ? Please don't trot out the same old platitudes I've been hearing about how you can never get herpes without having sex because I DID. Please try to be open-minded and figure out how else I could have gotten this.
