doctor called me in after I told her I was scared i had herpes since i had what i believed was an outbreak on my genitals. i got blood tests done and she called me in to tell me that the tests did detect antibodies, but it was a "rough estimate" and we just had to keep an eye out.
i was so confused andfrustrated because she didnt help at all. anyway i got the paper work and this is exactly what the tests results say verbatim.
HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS TYPES 1&2 IGG [HERPESELECT] & IGM ABS
HSV 1 IgG Antibodies <0.90
HSV 2 IgG Antibodies <0.90
HSV Types 1/2 IgM Abs Result= See below reference range = <0.80
Reflexed to IFA test for confirmation of antibody and type specificity
HSV 1 IgM Antibodies IFA Detected
HSV 2 IgM Antibodies IFA Detected
Then it goes on to say how this lab used a kit that was not approved by the FDA and all of that. But i've read that IgG are reliable, and IgM are not? So many different things out there, can you please help explain?
Thank you
