This is where, if I were listening to me, I'd be hiding my feelings of pity for the foolish, duped bride that was so misled by that awful lout! BUt I have to ask anyway - I've been married 5 years and only been seeing my doctor for a few months, so I trust Husband more than Doctor. After having an IUD installed, I was given an anti-biotic "in case," but it made me nauseous, and I felt fine, so I didn't complete the perscription. I DID wait 10 days before having sex with my husband - just to be safe. I was mildly irritated after the first night, but figured we were out of practice. After the second night, I knew I had an infection. I returned to the doctor, who recommended pro-biotics (baccilus) until my period - maybe that would flush it. After my period the infection came back, so I returned with the question, am I rejecting this thing, or is it just a mild resulting infection? She gave me a 5-day flagil perscription. The infection persisted until about the 7th day - I was clean for another 4 days before I risked sex with husband - and infection recurred, worse than before. The symptoms reminded me of Trich (18 yrs ago, I had it, and a few other things..ugh!) - snotty green mucus discharge and insanely itchy. I told her I thought i might be getting it back from husband, and I asked,"could it be trich?" She took a sample, stepped out of the room, came back and said, "Yep - It looks like trich". She perscribed flagil for both of us (twice the dose this time for 7 days) and when i asked, "How could I have gotten this?" she said, we couldn't be sure, there are those in the STD only and others of the "Toilet seat" camp - She literally said "Toilette seat!". Well - Everything I've read about it indicates that that's the dumbest assumption on the planet! But I just KNOW Husband hasn't cheated! AND I'm not in some weird denial about myself, either... OF course I told him, and it is reaking a little havoc on both of us, but we're trying to maintain perspective... How likely is it that i was misdiagnosed? IS there a better test? What is it and where do I get one?
