How long can it take

three or four days after having unprotected sex with my new partner I had a genital herpes outbreak. I had never had this before, and when I asked my former partiner if he had it he said no, but I don't realy know if he ever got tested. My new partiner never got tested for herpes ether, and he asumed that as my outbreak was to early, I probably already had it. I would like to know if it is possible that the symptoms apear in a date so near the infection.

thaks for the attention

Thanks for your help,
I've seen that the first symptoms are the strongest and they were exactly what I felt, fever, pain on my legs, and grown lifonodos. I would just like to know if the primary symptoms are a sign that I have never been exposed to the virus before, or the primary symptom can appear months after the infecction.

tthanks again for the attention

Your current partner needs to get a type specific herpes igg blood test to see what their status is.  A newly acquired infection can cause symptoms anywhere from 2 - 20 days after infection so no it's not too early for it to have come from your current partner.

do you know if you have hsv1 or hsv2 genitally? It's not all hsv2 just because it' sbelow the belt. Knowing which type you and your partners have is important.

I encourage you to watch the patient counseling video and read the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com. Both will better help you understand your genital herpes infection, how to treat it and how to reduce the chances of transmitting it to a new partner.
