How long can sypmtoms last?

It has been about 6 weeks since I received oral sex without a condom. The first week the only symptom I had was feeling the need to urinate. I had blood and urine tests at about three weeks exposure, all negative. Was put on Doxicycline for 7 days. Symptoms did not go away. Went to regular doctor for possible prostate problem. Again, blood and urine, now about 5 weeks after, again all negative. Was put on Cipro for ten days, along with Flomax. After 10 days, still have same symptom of needing to urinate. Sent to Urologist. After his exam, he got fluid to excrete from my penis with anal exam, culture showed resistance to Cipro. He gave me Bactrim, which I have been on since July 6th. This is the 17th, and the symptom still has not gone away.

Has anyone heard of treating urinary tract problem with three different antibiotics, and still having symptoms after 6 weeks? Is it possible there was some kind of damage from the infection, and I will have this feeling to some extent all the time?

Thank you for your time

You guys need to be posting in the urology forum, or you can talk in PM.  This isn't an std.

Thanks for your advice. As a matter of fact, I have been lifting heavier and more intensely than usual the last couple of months. I have been in Crossfit class, and these workouts are brutal.
Which prostate vitamin(s) are you suggesting / using? Will vitamins and / or herbal prostate remedies affect the antibiotics?

Thanks again.

Yes, prostate infections are really hard to treat dude.
I've had an issue with my prostate for about 9 weeks now, and it came 2 weeks after unprotected sex. I have had all types of xrays, prostate exams and everything has been negative.  I used doxy for 4 weeks, didnt work for me either. I'm starting to wonder if this infection is actually indeed due to sex? Doesnt always have to be. Heavy lifting and extraneous exercise can result in tract infections and things of that nature.
I started taking a healthy prostate vitamin and it seems to help more than antibiotics. Some of them are really expensive but I believe they work when antibiotics wont. Good luck
