You have every right to have the actual test results. The most important thing is to make sure it was an igg test and not an igm that was hsv1+.
Even though over 60% of adults in the US have hsv1 orally - only about 20-40% of them ever get obvious cold sores to know it. You could've contracted hsv1 orally as a small child or from anyone you've ever kissed in a lifetime. If your husband has never been tested for herpes - you can get him tested to see what his status is to see if you even have to be concerned about transmitting the virus to his genital area. It will always more likely not to happen than it will be for it to occur though - just keep that in mind.
so do you never kiss your kids again? well no that's a little extreme. Just use common sense - if you have oral symptoms at all - avoid kissing and performing oral sex. If you are sick ( they don't call them cold sores for nothing ) then also avoid kissing - same thing I"m sure you do now. It's not perfect precautions but it does go a long way in protecting those around you.
Don't let this be a big focus in your life - it's not worth it for this very common pesky virus.

I called my doctor to ask about the what type of test and he verified by doing a type pacific test for hsv 1 and hsv 2. he says it was very accurate and no big deal most people have hsv 1 cold sores and I dont need to worry about spreading it at all. until i see a cold sore than excercise cauction. any thoughts??
A blood test only tells you what you have, not where you have it. If you can get a copy of the blood test results and post them here then I can let you know if you had the right test or not.
