I am a little nervous

I am a little nervous

Hello folks.

I have been looking for answers, but am nervous about contracting herpes. Here is my story.

I have been married for almost 10 years. I have never had sex with anyone while with my wife, and I am almost 100% sure she hasn't either. Well, we seperated for a brief period, and I went out and got drunk (not like me). I met up with a woman and one thing led to another and we had unprotected sex. Of course the next day I felt awful for a number of reasons. The first thing I did was call this girl and apologize. I told her that I never did that, and she said the same. In the next day or so, I have a couple odd symptoms, but nothing that points at a particular infection. I have had no sores, rashes, oozing, or blisters. The one symptom that I did have was that it seemed that my forskin (I am circumcized) seems to be more. It tends to roll up over a portion of the head of the penis. It just seems that their is more foreskin. There is no pain or itching or signs of blisters. Now the head of the penis occasionally aches a little, but not hurt. This incident occured about 2 weeks ago, and I have had some tests run, but others haven't been done yet. I do have some cold/flu like symptoms, but so do half the people I know right now.  Based on what I have told you, does the foreskin thing sound like any kind of herpes symptom? If not, any ideas on what it could be. Is it possible that it was just irritated after the sex?  Should I be scared?  I have had the gonohrea and chlymidia tests yet and am awaiting the results.

Any help is appreciated.

Your symptoms sound very nonspecific, and I would wonder first and foremost about whether they are psychogenic, i.e. related to the obvious anxieties you are experiencing over these incidents.  Certainly no STD, including herpes, will affect foreskin anatomy in the way you describe.  I agree that any cold/flu symptoms are just that, not a sign of STD.  On top of everything else, it sounds like your one-time partner is at low risk of having an STD.

I hope this helps.  Best wishes for a happy(ier) new year--   HHH, MD

Anything you have to share is appreciated.

I guess it could be my anxiety.  This is something I have never done, and am just nervous.

Also the fact that my lymph nodes in my groin is swollen makes me nervous that there is some kind of infection "down there".
