A few weeks ago I noticed I had very swollen eyelids and started getting a lot of headaches. I went to the doctor, and she sent me home with nasal spray and eye drops for allergy. Over the next few days the pain did not go away and my throat became swollen. I went to a different doctor and she tested me negative for strep but positive for mononucleosis. I didn't know what that was and she said it was a virus transmitted through contact with infected saliva, like through kissing. I haven't kissed anyone in at least 2 years, so she said I may have contracted it sharing utensils or even b touching something random in public and not washing my hands right away. I went home and started the miserable recovery, doing research on my symptoms as they arose. Once, I came across a picture of growths under a man's tongue while I was reading about white tongues, and I noticed I had such growths. I got scared, because the picture said it was hpv. I started reading on hpv and found it can only be transmitted through oral sex and intercourse so I was relieved, since I have never done either. A few days later I noticed another disturbing thing while I was in the shower. I realized my vaginal entrance is almost obstructed by swollen, spongy gland. I was afraid, recalling the pictures of hpv. Over the past few days there has been significant improvement in my tonsils- the white covering is gone and I can eat again with minimal pain. However, the growths on my tongue are sill there, and though the swollen gland has neither grown nor shrunk, I m afraid of it.
Is it possible to get hpv just through mouth kissing? I've only done it twice in my life and for the most part they're not deep kisses. Could the swollen gland and growths be lasting symptoms of mono? Please help me.
I am afraid to go to the doctor with my mom and ask for an hpv test because he will accuse me of having sex even though I'm a virgin...
