ok here it goes, and im just looking for some kind of encouragement or word before i get tested because I have been to scared to know the answer. I had unprotected sex (stupid I know) about 4 months ago (in march), and I had really bad allergies this year, and never thought anything about it, but now that allergy season is over, I still have a stuffy nose, and have developed a lil dry cough, sometimes the mucous has some color to it, mainly white, but usually its clear, and sometimes its a little bit yellow too, and I have also had little red dots (look like bug bites) come up randomly all over my body, not alot of them at one time but a few at a time (some are like infected hair follicles), Im in school for massage therapy and my instructor says they are just from the oil but Im not sure.. and and the only other thing is that I had some kanker sores in my mouth, but ive gotten canker sores since i was a kid, but since ive been so stressed bout this they have come more often.. and I was wondering what you thought about this if it sounds like I may have hiv? the girl that i had unprotected sex with (1 time, and it was brief and i pulled out), she had a full historectomy due to cervical cancer, which makes me worry even more. Im just wondering what you think about these symptoms and the chances that i may have contracted hiv. this is the only time i have ever had unprotected sex, and since then i have been going crazy thinking about it and I have been to scared to go get tested because I play the worst scenerio out in my head all the time.. Thanks

You have posted on the wrong site.   Questions about HIV belong on the HIV prevention site.  I will do my best to answer your questions with this reply but, if you have additional questions or follow-up they must be on the HIV Prevention site.  Sorry

The symptoms you describe are not at all suggestive of HIV or any other STD.  There is little chance that your partner was HIV infected and even if she was, the probability of transmission through unprotected sex is less than 1 in 1000.  In addition, as far as other STDs are concerned, if she has had a hysterectomy it is unlikely that she has any STD because the hysterectomy removes the cervix which is typically the site of most STD infections.

You do not need to worry.  Your risk of HIV is very low.  If you are nervous, go on and get a single HIV test.  I am confident the result will be negative and when it is you can be totally confident in the result.  You may wish to be tested for other STDs at the same time you have the HIV test if you choose to get tested so that you can have total peace of mind.  There really is little medical indication for you to be concerned or tested- testing will be primarily for your peace of mind.

Hope this helps.  EWH
