IgG test positive 6 weeks past first outbreak

I had an IgG test taken four weeks past my first outbreak and tested positive for HSV2 at 2.64 level. Is 5 to 6-1/2 weeks post exposure enough time to be positive or was I likely infected before?

The person I was with insists he doesn't have genital herpes and I got it from someone else. I find it odd that I had no sex for several months with anyone, and then get my first outbreak within two weeks of being with a new person without him having anything to do with it. He is not speaking to me so I am left figuring this out on my own.
