I had a IgM Herpes test 11 days post exposure and it came back negative. I know the doc on the forum doesent believe in the IgM but the testing facitily ensured me that i had nothing to worry about. Does anyone have any info on false negatives for this test? thanks in advanceAdvance care plus Advance relief for your responses.
Although IgM isn't recommended for herpes testing, a negative result is still reassuring. If I'm not mistaken, the problem with IgM is that it can show a false positive when you're not actually infected. But a negative result is a good indicator. If you're still worried, I'd still get tested at 4 months using an IgG blood test.
I also tested IGM negative, but I have heard not everyone (in fact, many) do not produce the IGM antibodies right away. They may not get produced any faster than IGG. For this reason, I am not reassured, as I have been having some strange symptoms...
