Immediate Lip Burning
Started on June 29th, went to a strip club to see a friends band play and was kissed by a stripper. (1 kiss, peck on lips, pulled away) Within minutes of the kiss, my lips started burning. I went to the bathroom and washed them off but the burning continued. The “intense” burning lasted 3 days but has continued to feel tingly for the last 2 months (both lips, sensation moves around – kind of like novocaine is wearing off) Went to doctors (three of them, no tests or diagnosis) By July 22nd Low grade fever set in and sore neck. Dermatology gave me desonide ointment .05% to no help and ran a CBC that was normal. July 26th I went on Acyclovair to see if it would help but did not. July 27th went back to strip club and asked dancer if she had any of the symptoms of lip burning, she said no but that she sometimes uses a lip pucker that makes her lips tingle for 10 minutes or so. By July 30th my lymph nodes under my jawline on each side are swollen and still low grade fever. August 4th tried an antibiotic for 10 days (I think DexClav?) but did not help. Today, 8-26-2013, lips tingle on/off (not as bad as before) but the neck lymph nodes are horrible. Very sore on left side especially. Cant get a doctor to take me seriously. I Saw a dentist today looking for answers but she said my mouth and teeth are fine. I have also been using Vaseline on my lips nightly as per dermatology recommendation and been seeing a counselor to treat anxiety but to no avail. Also tried Xanax with no help. Large doses of IBUProfen seems to help the swollen lymph nodes pain/tenderness. Lips also seem very sensitive now. I was sitting around a campfire last weekend and the heat was very hot on my lips causing them to tingly immediately, but the heat did not effect the rest of my face. Please think about this as I have been turned away elsewhere and am very tired and am in need of some help. Thanks

Presumably you have not seen an oral medicine specialist, as I suggested above. Beyond that, I have no other ideas or suggestions. Whatever the cause, it's not an STD, and that's the only topic for this forum.

My eyes are also bloodshot every morning when I wake and are dry. Could this be some type of fungal / bacterial infection of my lips? What can I do to test, treat?

Neither your intial symptoms nor the current ones are consistent with either herpes or EBV. (I'm not sure where the EBV concern comes from. HSV can cause painful skin lesions, but EBV doesn't do that.)
Anyway, I really can't think of any additional tests for any infection that would help sort this out; as suggested above, I doubt any infection is the cause. And I'm not in a position to speclate about other kinds of tests, e.g. for allergies etc.
There is a dental specialty called oral medicine. It's not something most of the public is aware of, but your dentist should be able to tell you if there is such a specialist in your area. It should be easy to find one if you live near a university school of denistry or in a major metropolitan area. That's what I would try if I had a situation like yours.

I understand that a virus or STD of any kind can not show symptoms so quickly. Is it possible to have so kindly received a fungal or bacterial infection of some sort? Or that this may have caused a recurrence of a typical childhood virus like EBV or HSV1? ( Something I may already have received as a child, I just assume I have had these as I am 31yrs old).
Is there any tests at all that I could talk w/ my GP about taking that may lead to a diagnosis? Are you saying the swollen jawline lymph nodes are coincidental and are just by chance? What about the now increased lip sensitivity?

Immediate onset of symptoms can never be due to infection -- thus no STD is a possible explanation of your lip burning etc. All infections require time for the causative bacteria, virus etc to invade the tissues, reproduce itself, and induce an inflammatory response by white blood cells, the immune system, etc. That process always requires at least 1-2 days, often several days or longer. Such immediate onset like you describe has to be due to either a physical injury (e.g., chemical) or an allergic reaction to something. It could well be you are allergic to a dye or other chemical in the stripper's lipstick or other make-up. The time course, i.e. resolution of the immediate burning etc in 3 days, is also typical for an allergic reaction. The subsequent ongoing tingling could be a follow-up reaction to that sort of thing, or might be psychological. But in any case, there is no chance it's due to an STD or other infection you caught during the kiss.
I'm afraid that's as far as I can go. No online forum is ever a likely source to solve a diagnostic problem that couldn't be figured out by direct medical care -- and in any case, on this forum we don't speculate on causes or treatment once it is apparent that no STD is involved. All I can do is suggest you continue to work with your doctors on this. However, I will also add that I'm certain that this isn't a sign of anything serious. You needn't worry about any important long term health consequences either for you or for your friends, sex partners, kids, etc.
