Infected hair follicle?

by jims09, Jul 07, 2009 10:20PM
Can you have just one infected hair follicle on your genitals?
Or does it usually happen as a rash/multiple bumps?
Also, when it heals.. does it get kind of dry/scabby/flaky?
& how long can it take to heal.
I ask this because i had one bump on my genitals for about two weeks and it hurt and itched then it got inflammed and turned into a sore then it started to dry out and heal and get really flaky when i scratched it.
I noticed a hair in it when it was healing and dried out but it didnt hurt anymore then.
Can it be an infected hair follicle????

Infected hair follicles are common - especially if you do any type of manscaping down there. They can show up as one bump, or as several. From what you describe, it sounds like you had an ingrown hair. But have you had any recent unprotected sexual encounters?
