Insertive Oral Risk - 2nd Opinion

Dear Doctor:
I received an answer to this question from gracefromHHP, "Really not a big risk at all.  Personally unless you developed symptoms I wouldn't even bother with any testing from this" ; however, I wanted to get a second opinion, like most doctors recommend:
A while back I received oral from a masseuse unexpectedly for about 5-10 seconds and eversince, I have been curious to try, so a few days ago I allowed another married guy who offered to perform oral on my penis.  I'm not very large or long, so I know that it didn't touch his throat, and he only did it for about 15-20 seconds and then I felt like I was going to ***, so I told him to stop, at which time he finished me off with a HJ.  I didn't notice any sores, leisons, etc. on his mouth.  He said, that he didn't meet people very often, but enjoyed sucking; and that he didn't have any STDs and that I would catch any from him.  Of course, him being a 54 year old married man, I put a little more trust; however, one should never assume anything -- dumb me!  I immediately wiped off my penis with a paper towel and took a pee in the toilet.  My question is, would ejaculating and peeing in the toilet immediately following the insertive oral, lesson the risk of catching anything?  Should I not be too concerned and just move on, or should I get tested?  I really didn't enjoy the oral part and have no desire to try it again.  Has the one-time curiousity really killed the cat, so to speak?

I suppose in theory ejaculation or urination following sexual exposure of any sort might be expect to reduce risk for STD acquisition. At the same time, I can tell you that this has never been formally studied.

As far as your risk, Grace is correct, the risk from brief oral sex is very, very low, particularly with brief exposures and low risk partners such as you describe.  Of the bacterial STDs only gonorrhea and nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) are transmitted through oral sex; chlamydia is not and without an obvious sore or lesion on your partner’s mouth, the chances of syphilis and herpes is likewise tiny.   If you had gotten gonorrhea or NGU you would have most likely developed symptoms of urethritis (penile infection).  Even if your partners had an STD (any STD and it is likely they did not), most exposures do not lead to infection.  In your case, your exposure was brief; I would urge you not to worry. If you must for your own peace of mind, you could go to your local STD clinic or health care provider to be tested at this time.  Personally, without symptoms and given the specifics of your exposure, I would not seek further evaluation.

Hope this helps.  EWH
