Is it a wart?

Is it a wart?

Last week I noticed a small white bump just outside of my vagina.  It looked like a pimple but I couldn't pop it.  After I picked at it, it became elongated, more like a skin tag than a pimple and bled a little.  There are two more bumps right next to it which I believe are just natural bumps that have been there forever but are also bigger and white now.

I went to the gyn. yesterday.  At first she said it looked like a wart but later said she didn't think it was and never commented on the other two.  She said the bump was in line with the natural line of bumps in that region but I disagree.  It looks to be just to the side of the normal bumps.  The vinegar test didn't cause anything to turn white and she thought some of my actions (such as riding a new bike a lot in the past month and wearing thongs) might be to blame for the bump.  I've never had a wart anywhere so I don't have anything to compare it to.  It doesn't seem to be going away and, since my appointment yesterday, I'm convinced it's growing (I'm sure it's just paranoia).  My doctor said that I should wait a couple of weeks and if it spreads or grows to come back but there was really no other way to tell. Is this a wart or something else?

It sounds like you could indeed have a wart or a skin tag, but I can say no more; an online opinion based on your description cannot compete with the opinion of a health care provider who has examined you.   I agree with your provider's advice to wait another couple of weeks and get reexamined if it persists, or sooner if it is DEFINITELY getting worse.  In any case, it doesn't sound serious and likely not an STD.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
