Welcome to the STD forum.
You had accurate replies to this question on the herpes community forum. Based on your symptoms and the nature of your exposure, I would not have suspected herpes and would have recommended against blood testing. But in any case, your test results are negative and confirm you are not infected.
In other words, your GP and urologist are correct in regard to genital herpes; for sure you don't have it.
Herpes never causes symptoms like "pressure in the pubic area". This suggests a prostate gland problem; or even more likely, the chronic pelvic pain syndrome, which is often (usually) a muscle tension problem that results from genitally focused anxiety. And from all you have said both here and on the herpes community forum, you have a lot of that! For more information, google CPPS (spell it out) and start your reading with the excellent Wikipedia article and information you can find from the Stanford University Dept of Urology. Ciprofloxacin may help if it's a true prostate gland infection, but don't expect miracles; I doubt it will have any effect on your symptoms. If the problem persists, continue to follow up with the urologist. But don't worry about it; CPPS and prostatitis are generally harmless in the long run, both for affected men and their sex partners.
I hope these comments have been helpful. Best wishes-- HHH, MD
I understand DOC. Thank you very much.
This information doesn't change my opinion or advice. None of your symptoms even hints at herpes. Your lab test results are accurate.
You are obviously obsessed with herpes, and irrationally so given the overwhelming scientific evidence you aren't infected plus the reasoned reasurance you have had from several sources. This suggests a need for mental health counseling. I suggest it from compassion not criticism. In any case, this forum cannot help you further. Do not be tempted to start a new thread about this; it would be deleted without reply, and without refund of the posting fee.
Hello Doc, I'm not sure If I have to pay for every post but I posted my concerns with Grace and I wanted to post the same with you because you both have helped me a great deal and I value your expertise. Here goes, I have been paranoid since the whole ordeal and i have tried to let it go but its hard. Yesterday, 3/17/2013 i started to feel a pinch feeling on my left butt cheek that followed with a slight itch. The itch isn't intense just noticeable. For the last three or four days, my shoulders and arms have been sore for whatever reason. If you can remember, my herpes scare was unprotected for about 10-15 seconds. I tested post exposure at weeks 6, 12 and 28. Would you still say that my results are accurate? I have read that herpes sometimes cause muscle aches, stiff neck and other things. Please help me with what you think and anybody who may read this post. I woke up this morning with what look like masquito bite right below my neck where the colar bone is. Please help. .
Thanks DOC. Same question I have asked before. Eventhough this was an unprotected brief exposure, chances were very low of contracting the virus.
