Is this herpes

Is this herpes

Hi I had a question.  About 4 weeks ago i had unprotected sex with a girl I don't know.  Then about 8 hours or less later i had a burning sensation in my penis.  I have also noticed my testicles burn at the base whenever i'm sitting down.  There are no bumps or rash.  No discharge, sex is not painful. It sometimes hurts after urination. I have back pain, pain in my right leg and testicle and lower abdominal pain. I went to a Doctor and described this to him and he did not feel it was an STD. He said it sounds like a UTI. He had me take Ciprofloxacin for 10 days. A couple days after i was done my medication i went to another Doctor and got the same opinion and they felt there was no need to do testing. I was also told if it was an STD the antibiotics would've dealt with it. It has been a week since I saw the second Doctor and I still have the same pains.  I was wondering could this be herpes or is it something else? This has been on my mind for quite sometime and has been seriously bothering me. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanx

I think you're reacting with more anxiety than is warranted.  In any case, there is no way an online opinion can compete with the diagnosis and judgment of a doctor who has personally evaluated a patient (especially two separate docs).

That said, no STD shows up in 8 hours.  And cipro for 10 days will effectively treat gonorrhea or chlamydia (the monst common bacterial STDs).  It wouldn't cover herpes, but that doesn't sound at all like what you have.

Follow your doctors' advice, accept their judgment, and relax.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
