Itchy, Red vagina

While making Love to my wife, I remember insistently rubbing her Vulva with my finger. Since she liked it I may have over done it.
She did complain of redness and minor discomfort which we thought will go away.
Few days later (yesterday), while normal love making, she observed that she felt itchy and felt like scratching the red portion. I too examined and found her outer lips to be red.

Can this be treated locally with some lotions etc. or is it time to visit the Gynea?
As a couple we are careful of hygiene (hands and mouth etc) and always have protected sex.

Thanx

Thanks

Next time use a little lube to help cut down on friction :)

Gratitude for quick advice.
The latest: As adviced we went to the Gynea and all's well.
Actually there wasnt any discharge, so though we wnet for the confirmation but werent too knotted.
As it turned out: The friction on an overly sensitive area left a rash. The itchiness was bcos of the healing process of the upper derma (as the doc said)
Gratitude nevertheless.

smiles;-)

I agree - this could be yeast, but I think she should be checked before self treating.

Hello, watch for any sign of discharge. If there is some white discharge it is probably a yeast infection. Has she been on antibiotics? You can get packets at pharmacy. I suggest the three day one.Yeast infections are super common. They are itchy and kinda burn when you have sex. If this does not work, have her go in for her pap smear and they will check it. Might as well kill two birds with one stone. As a women I advise going to a women's health clinic and see a nurse practition. It is so much more relaxing, way, way cheaper, and one is with women who really care, instead of some money grubbing doctor.
