It's not going away...?

Hey guys...

I'm going to try and make a really long story short and would really appreciate any input / advise from you.

About five months ago I had protected sex with a woman I did not know. 10 - 12 days later it started burning profusely when I urinate, and obviously went to the local doctor immediately. After examining me for no longer than a couple of seconds he told me that he thinks I have Gonorrhea. He then prescribed a course of Doxycycline and Ciprofloxacin. After about 2 weeks I finished both prescribed antibiotics but the immense burning still continued. I then decided to go see the family doctor closer to home and told him about my previous examination. He then examined me and told me that there was absolutely nothing wrong with me from where he was standing. I took his word for it and left it for a couple more weeks. About 4 weeks after my encounter I started developing a really bad throat ache which I also went to the doctor for and he then prescribed a course of Co-Amoxyclav.

Now here's the things I don't understand and really need some advise about:

After so many visits to the doctor,is it not weird that none of them wanted to do any sort of STD test even though I told them that I started feeling sick almost straight after that sexual encounter?

After the second visit to the doctor regarding my throat he diagnosed it as being Thrush.  He has prescribed 2 different kinds of anti-fungal medication but the legions of yellow stuff on my tongue and throat just stay the same.  It does not look anything like the pictures of Thrush that I google. I also read that a sore throat go hand in hand with an STD???

There has however been no discharge or sores of any kind...except a very red tip of the penis. The reason that I cannot stop worrying about it is because its not going away...I'm sure you'll understand.

Btw HIV test clear at about 11 weeks.

Please help!

I encourage you to seek out some actual std testing. None of the medications you have taken are currently effective against the most common strains of gonorrhea out there so if you actually do have it - you haven't been properly treated for it yet.    You should at this point probably be giving a urine sample to be looked at under the microscope too.  Still having symptoms 5 months after the encounter might very well be a prostatitis and not have anything to do with a std.

You also can have your throat looked at too at that time.  No a sore throat doesn't go hand in hand with a std - many things cause sore throats like sinus infections, upper respiratory infections, bacterial throat infections and even gastroesophageal reflux as well as many other viral infections.   Also being on antibiotics can cause an over growth of fungus in the mouth area and you've been on several at this point.
