What cream did you use? -- I have the same problem and Dr thinks bacterial infection ----I am on antibiotics currently but does not seem to be working well. STD test were neg.
It is possible that you got a fungal, yeast, or bacterial infection. All of these things can happen. However, if nothing reoccurs there is no reason to seek further treatment.
In general, you should get tested for STDs once per year if you are sexually active. Also, get a HerpesSelect test in the process. Your encounter does not indicate herpes, but it is good to know your status.
As far as timing, a week is good for bacterial STDs. 6-8 weeks for HIV. 3-4 months for Herpes.
