Kinda worried, maybe for nothing?

by USP45, Aug 31, 2009 12:06AM
Hi all, kind of worried here, about possible STD infection. I'll try and be as frank and open about everything related to the issue.

About three months ago I began having sex (a mix between protected and non) with a girl who I had been seeing. After the FIRST time we had sex, maybe a half day later, I noticed a burning sensation at the tip of my urethra. Ever since that day, I have experienced MILD pain in the urethra (And a little redness INSIDE the urethra, not on the penis skin) I have a fairly high pain tolerance, but this pain is not severe. It is annoying, and can be distracting and a little uncomfortable at times, but nothing too terrible. I have NOT noticed any discharge of any sort.

The burning comes and goes, but I notice it MOSTLY before and after urination/ejaculation. Other times it may be present, but is fairly mild. The burning is the ONLY symptom I have noticed. For a day or two, one testicle felt a little tender, but it may have been unrelated.

Here are some other things to consider. I found out AFTER this three month relationship ended that the girl MAY have some sort of STD. I didnt know it at the time, but apparently she has a reputation as being somewhat promiscuous. It wasnt much more than gossip, but who knows.....sort of a "ooooh you better get tested, man" type of thing.

Also, during the first week or so of sex, I noticed that she smelled a little 'funky' in the vaginal area. Nothing revolting, and I know some girls just have more odor than others, but I did notice it. After that first week or so, I didnt notice anything. Maybe she just had some sort of bacterial infection and passed it on?

Lastly, I have not noticed ANY sort of lesion, blister, scab, pimple, pustule, rash, lump, etc anywhere on or near my crotch.

Heres what I have done so far.....

Got tested for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea about 2 weeks ago (approx 2 months after first noticing symptoms), the results of which were NEGATIVE.

At this point, Im thinking that the only possibilities are a UTI / bacterial infection, some sort of HPV issue (no idea?) or....god forbid....herpes. I know that the kicker with herpes is the blisters and scabs, which I have had none, but most all of the webpages on herpes mention pain and burning with urination......Is it possible that after these three or so months, I have HSV2 and dont know it? Or would I have had an outbreak by now?

Im probably worried for nothing, but it seems odd that the discomfort came on right around the time we first had sex, and has still persisted this long. For that reason alone I assumed it has SOMETHING to do with the intercourse we had, STD or not.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

With your negative tests I would lean to some sort of bacterial infection or maybe yeast. Never a good idea to listen to rumors because they just fuel anxiety in situations like this.
