Lichen planus?? or something else?

by mossie83, Nov 27, 2007 12:18PM
Hello All,

I had unprotected sex about 4 weeks ago and a few days after i noticed red flat shiney marks on my penis head. They pretty much stay there towards the top of the head. They seem to lighten up if I leave them alone, but if i masturbate they get redder.

From pictures ive seen they look like the skin disease lichen planus.  From what ive read on many other sites i do not have the symptoms of any std. No pain or itching either. Also, my symptoms do not even look like any std and being so paranoid i have looked at many photos on many sites.

Just wondering if this could be in fact lichen planus? flat shiney red bumps near the head of the penis that do not go away quickly (effects of lichen planus).

I appreciate any help.

Hi Mossie83, you need to go to a dermatologist and they will be able to confirm... this can only be done with a biopsy. You will get results back in 1-2 weeks and know.

good luck

Dont self diagnose via pictures!!! I have tried this many times, been way off the mark, and had un-needed worry.
Lichen planus is a skin condition, not and std. As you got symptoms shortly after unprotected sex, i would urge you to get tested.  It is all straightforward, and you will get a diagnosis, and peace of mind. DON'T have sex, CERTAINLY not unprotected until you get a diagnosis. Im not trying to patronise you, as im sure you know this, but in the heat of the moment.............................................................hehe!!!!!!! you know what i mean
