Lots of Swelling, itching, now bumps- Herpes?

sorry so long-  I was told by a girl i'm seeing that she had just found out that she had HPV.After i self-diagnosed myself, i ordered this natural healing oil that supposedly got rid of them. I used this for 3 weeks, and noticed it would peel some skin off, and even irritate, and looked as if it might be working. I had sex with the same girl for the first time again in months. 3 days later I had INTENSE itching, and a great deal of swelling only on the side of my penis where i had used the oil. I saw a doc and he decided that 1)i have HPV-he set me up with a derm. for the end of week, and 2) he thought the swelling was probably just a reaction to the product i had been using for weeks with no swelling.  The swelling in that area is now gone, though still very itchy, and the skin looks strange- very irritated in the whole area close to where oils had hit. Now the swelling has moved to the skin on my testicles where the skin on my affected penis area touches. I used Benadryl and that got rid of the itching- but the skin was still very dryed. Yesterday i tried lubing up w/vaseline and the last 24 hours have been maddening- tons of itching, and now some red bumps have appeared on the head the non-oil/outbreak side-could be from rubbing on boxers,?
Basically- it just seems like a larger region gets screwed up as time goes, and the bumps now really worried me.  They could be from irritation from the benadryl/vaseline rubbing on my boxers, but if it werent for the crazy swelling i would say Herpes.  Is it Herpes?  What else could it be? The itching is HUGE- should i go to ER?

Hey HHH- thanks for responding.

The dermatologist thought it wasn't anything serious and gave me some triamcinolone to ease the swelling/itching.  Since then, most of the problems have cleared, however a couple things were noticed by myself (she didn't look long at all or really examine much) 1) Before i started using the triam, the area between my testicles and penis that was swollen was secreting some sort of sweat-like fluid that had a very bad and unusual odor.  2)  I occasioanlly get a slight stinging pain when i've just gotten done peeing.  3)There is one paricular spot of the rim of the head that has been red when other spots are fine.  This spot seems to almost shed its skin every so often overnight(perhaps because the triam dries?)  and 4)  I have a very bad rash on my ears, on my thoat, on the back of my arms, and on one finger. (it seems to be moving by where i touch perhaps)  It looks different in different places, Though in most placesit looks like tiny red bumps- on my finger and ears it looks like poison ivy-tiny little white bumps (i haven't touched any plants).  The rash seemed to start on my ears.  The weather here has changed significantly getting very hot and humid and i run outdoors so heat rash was the best i could come up with, but it just seems too coincidental to be following this other problem.

Could these two strange things be at all related?  I've used Triam. before with no allergic reaction....

It doesn't sound like herpes, but I can't be sure.  And in any case, no online doctor can try to make a specific diagnosis, and I especially try to avoid guessing games when someone already is seeing a health care provider (unless it seems the provider is badly off track with respect to STDs, but nothing you say suggest that is a problem).

Since you're lined up to see a dermatologist, discuss it with him/her.  If your symptoms are too severe to wait, talk with your current doctor about it; he should be able to take care of it, or perhaps can speed up your derm appointment.

Good luck-- HHH, MD
