Massage parlor worry

Hey Doc,

I made the dumbest mistake 2 days ago by going to a massage parlor (will never do this again).  The Sex worker performed analingous on me for about 1 minute she put some kind of gel first then started. Also she performed protected oral and we had protected vaginal sex.  The Vagianl sex lasted about 30 seconds at most.  The condom did not break as far as I know.  I am concerned because she did lick my scrotum a few times as well as my anus which weren't protected.  About 20 or so minutes after I got home I started feeling a burning sensation around my scrotum and anus as well as a burning sensation on my penis.  This feeling has still not gone away.  I am very concerned and scared that I have contracted an STD or even HIV.  I would appreciate your opinion on this matter.  Thanks.

this theread has gone on for a month and a half and needs to end.  This will be my last response.

No, EBV would not delay your seroconversion for STDs and HIV.  In your case, following your no risk exposure, no amount of testing is going to find an STD.  You really need to move on EWH

Doctor Hook,

I know this is not the HIV forum, however I have a question if you could kindly answer me.

I again tested negative for all STD's and HIV at 7 weeks after exposure.  However, I did test slightly reactive to EBV.  My doctor also did a CBC test and she said everything looked normal.

Would testing reactive for EBV delay seroconversion for HIV or STD?  Also, how accurate is a test at 7 weeks post exposure?

Thanks for your time.

No, the medications you have received will not affect your future HIV test results.

This is in no way suggestive of herpes. It might suggest a fungal infection but your STD risk remains negligible.  My vote remains with anxiety/guilt.  EWH

Hey Doctor Hook,

Just wanted your opinion.  I have been tested and checked out numerous times by Dr's.  All my test results have been negative so far.  I still have symptoms of a red urethra and redness on my scrotum and anus which burn.  The urologist gave me some oil based shot in my buttocks as well as prescribed me some cream and pills for which I will take for 10 days.  Hopefully this clears up.  My question is, since I am going to be taking all of these antibiotics and I had that shot, will this affect future HIV test accuracy?  Also, does redness around the urethra, scrotum, and anus that burn sound like a atypical symptom of herpes.  This happened 3 days after my encounter and it has been on month now.  Thanks for your input.  The uroligist and the other Doctors aren't sure.  Maybe fungal or bacterial?????

No change in my opinion.  If you wish further reassurance, you should go to your local STD clinic or your doctor. While it is far too early for an HIV test, you could have STD testing at thsi time. EWH

Sorry to open this back up Dr. Hook, but it has now been 4 days since my incident and I have since developed a redining of my scrotum.  I still feel a burning sensation on the tip of my penis and also my scrotum burns and is now red.  Do you think this could be herpes?  The CSW did lick my scrotum with now protection.  What do you think?

No testing now would be too soon to be helpful.   Your exposrue was virtually no risk.  If you wish to confirm this with a test, you should wait until 4 and better yet, 6 weeks before getting tested.  EWH

Thank you Doc that does help.  This will be my last question and the topic will be closed.  If I go and get tested for a peace of mind next week would my results be accurate since the exposure would have been about 1 week?

Welcome to the Forum. congratulations on your commitment to condom protected, safe sex.  Condom protected sex (genital or oral) is safe sex and does not put you at meaningful risk for STD or HIV.  Receipt of analingus does not carry risk for STD or HIV. You need not worry about it.  Similarly, there is no risk to you from having your scrotum licked.

As for your symptoms, there are NO STDs of any sort that cause symptoms within minutes (or even hours) of exposure.  Even the earliest STDs only become symptomatic at some point after 24-48 hours of exposure.  On the other hand, when we begin to concentrate and pay attention to our bodies, or specific parts of our bodies, we can often perceive sensations we would have ignored at other times. Perhaps this is part of what is going on for you.

Hope this comment helps.  EWH
