Molluscum - need some advice

by misdiagnosis, Dec 08, 2008 03:04AM
Hi there!

I had a red spot/pimple on my penis for the past 6 months or so which didn't hurt or itch, and had a full STD check up 3 months ago.  But over the last few weeks the number of red spots has increased (3 or 4), so a few days ago I decided to get it seen at an STD clinic in Singapore.

The Dr diagnosed it as Molluscum and then they took a test to make sure, which came back negative, but the Dr treated as Molluscum anyhow: bursting the red growths and spraying liquid nitrogen on it.

I was wondering whether this was the right thing to do as the test results came back negative. I asked if it could be something else and the Dr said very unlikely and that it looked like Molluscum. Any Advice??

Thanks.

Anyone? should i get a second opinion, or could it have been Molluscum even though the test results were negative??

Hope someone can help..........

Please be patient, people who answer questions do so for free and I there own time. I do not know much about Molluscum but other do. So be patient and your question will get answered.

Sure, I think its an appropriate treatment, and if it wasn't, it won't hurt anything.

Did the culture come back with anything?

Thanks for your response!

Not from what I understand. I was just told that it was negative, and that they wanted to carry out the treatment anyway just to be on the safe side.

That seems logical to me.
