Molluscum Still?

by westcoastman1, Mar 03, 2009 03:21PM
I am 19 years old and currently sexually active.  Over the past six months I have had sex with 4 different women.  One I was with for about a month and a half and we had sex without condoms because she was on birth control.  The other two were one nighters.  And recently I am seeing a girl who also says she is on birth control so we do not use a condom.  Recently i have gotten cyrotherapy for molluscum only about four or five bumps in the genital region.  I was wondering if i had to worry about contracting other STDS, such as HIV??

Having molluscum contagiosum does not increase your chances of getting HIV. The connection here is that people that are immuno-compromised (like people with AIDS) have a hard time fighting off the molluscum virus.

Yes, you do have to be worried about contracting STDs since you are not using protection. If you have any concerns get tested and ask you partner to do the same. It can be an awkward conversation, but its your body and you need to protect yourself.

Also you should abstain from sexual contact or use protection while being treated for molluscum. I have them too, they're a pain! But if you keep having that direct skin to skin contact you are putting your partner at risk for getting molluscum and then you risk being reinfected again once you've burned off all the molluscum.

I agree wholeheartedly, and you should check this link out - http://www.ashastd.org/learn/learn_mc.cfm
