Molluscum Transmission

I was diagnosed with molluscum contagiosum 5 months ago in the genital region, and have abstained from any form of sexual intimacy since then. I have recently been getting to know this guy and realized that he had rubbed my back where there was a molluscum papule. What are the chances of him getting molluscum from touching the papule? And what is the average time that symptoms would show up?

Thanks

I had molluscum  or the dots as I like to call it and my boyfriend didn't show signs of what he called sweat zits 9 months after we started dating.  He told me that he hadn't cheated on me and got it from a girl from spain he hooked up with the fall the yr b/f.  I got the dots the next fall and it lasted for 6 months. DOes anyone know the incubation period of molluscum/ IT's time I knew if he cheated or not. He's a sport/vitamin freak and his disappeared in 10 days. SO unfair.

it takes some good contact to transmit it, not just your basic touching.

Does molluscum spread more due to scratching the papule rather than just touching it?

Dr Hook doesn't come to this forum. you have to pay to post on the experts forum.

This is very low risk for your partner.

I was diagnosed with molluscum contagiosum 5 months ago in the genital region, and have abstained from any form of sexual intimacy since then. I have recently been getting to know this guy and realized that he had rubbed my back where there was a molluscum papule multiple times. What are the chances of him getting molluscum from touching the papule? One doctor has told me the chances are low, and another said the risk was quite high.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, I am sure because I went into see my doctor and she said it did look like a molluscum papule. I am a bit confused about it because one doctor told me the chances were low, but then another said it was highly contagious and he may have gotten it. Is it true that because adults have stronger immune systems, they are more less likely to contract the virus? Fortunately my molluscum has not been too bad because I've stayed on top of it, but I was freaking out when I realized I had one on my back and my friend had rubbed his hands over it multiple times :(

The chances of him getting molluscum is low from touching it with his hands.
Especially that it was on your back; are you sure you have mouscum on your back?

They will usually show within 2 to 6 weeks, up to 4 months for any ulcerative STD.
