Need help with these symptoms

Some weird symptoms have appeared on me and I am not sure what they are or even if they are STD related.  Here is what happened.  I had sex with a female and my condom broke.  I realized soon after it happened.  I also received oral sex from the female with no condom on a different day but within a day or two after orginal encounter.  About 2 or 3 days after the oral sex incident either a blister or something popped around my anus and a lot of pus came out.  There was a lot of pus.  My whole bottom side of my underwear was covered.  It was either clear or somewhat milky.  Didnt have any bad smell to it.  I could not tell if the pus came from blister or sore or what.  I also started to notice a discomfort when I urinate.  It burns slightly but not a lot.  This slight burning has been going on for over 7 weeks.  I still have it.  Also, about 3 weeks after my sexual encounter some rashes or skin irritation appeared on the ridge of my penis on more then one spot.  It is red and it looks like a rug burn or when your skin gets irritated from rubbing on you swim suit.  4 weeks after that the irritation appeared it is still there but not as annoying as it use to be but its still there.  Some of the skin is still red on the ridge of my penis.  I looked at the opening of my penis and it looks irritated but I can't tell if there are sores there.  My concern is that the same day of my sexual encounter II went to the beach and think my penis might have been irritated from rubbing on my swimsuit.  She did give me oral sex on that day.  I think I could have gotten what ever I have from that.  I have never had anal sex or anything to do with my anus and am confused about the discharge I had.  If Im correct I believe herpes can show up anywhere on your body even if you didnt have contact there.  Thanks the the help

Please re-read all my comments above, paying close attention.  I'm not going to repeat myself, which is what this question is asking me to do.

That will be all for this thread.

Hi Dr. I have a question.  Since I last talked with you, in the past couple of days my anus as started to feel a little sore.  somethings not right.  Cant really tell if is a blister or what.  Anyways I have a doctors appointment set.  My question to you is that I know you said herpes outbreaks almost always happen at the spot of the exposure.  But I have heard cases of men getting herpes outbreaks around the anus when they never had contact around the anus.  How common is that and why does it happen?  Why would it happen around the anus and not the point of exposure?? Does anus herpes look the same?  Would it be possible to get symptoms in two separate spots?  Thanks

Thanks for the advice doctor.  I will go to the dermatologist and see what they say about my condition.  I know its not normal what is going on down there but it makes me feel better that you don't think it is std related.

Trust me on this:  it is impossible the anal area problem had anything to do with the sexual exposure.  The timing alone argues against it.  Based on your description, it was a rather large lesion and drained a lot of material.  It is unlikely such a lesion could develop and then drain in only 3 days.  Most likely it had been brewing for at least several days, perhaps weeks.

Your latest information is correct:  Most "atypical" herpes is really quite typical, just unrecognized at the time.  That you might have had a penile abrasion had little or no effect on your STD risk.

Any primary care provider can evaluate these issues -- family medicine, internal medicine, etc.  That person can always refer you to a specialist if necessary, e.g. a proctologist if any important anal problem seems to persist, or maybe a dermagolotist for the penile symptoms.

I see no need for any further STD testing at 12 weeks or any other time.  But follow your doctor's advice after you are examined.

also what about the possibility that I had a open sore on me from the friction between my swim suit and my penis.  Could that have made it easier for me to get infected with a STD??

Thanks for the response.  The tingling I was talking about was on my skin where it was red.  It just felt sensitive.  It didn't feel normal.  It still doesn't feel  completely normal.  Its still a little sensitive on certain spots on the ridge of my penis.  I went to a primary care doctor and she said it doesn't look like herpes and I was tested.  This has just never happened to me before and since it is close to my sexual encounter with a female that I know nothing about I just thought it was related.  I hope to god its not.  Im going to get tested at 12 weeks but thats still a long ways.  I do find your evaluation helpful.  And I appreciate it.  Is it true that in most cases of herpes the symptoms are are usually not typical??  What type of doctor do you suggest I go see about all these problems??  Should I wait to the 12 week mark or go now?

Welcome to the forum.  I'll try to help.

I scanned your long discussion on the herpes community forum.  Without reading it in detail, as best I can tell the evidence is strong that neither herpes nor any other STD explains your symptoms.  And in reading your question here quite carefully, I still feel the same.  Let's look at these problems one by one.

First, your sexual encounters don't sound high risk.  The odds of herpes from any single episode of vaginal sex is low (under 1 in a few thousand, if the partner isn't known to have herpes) and oral sex is even safer.

Second, anal symptoms like you describe are quite common and rarely are caused by any STD -- especially in the absence of anal sexual exposure.  You probably had an infected anal cyst or something like that.  Almost certainly it had nothing to do with the sexual exposure 3 days earlier.

Third, the "slight burning" with urination:  Conceivably this could indicate an infection in your urethra, i.e. gonorrhea, chlamydia, or nongonococcal urethritis (NGU).  However, all of those usually cause abnormal discharge of pus or mucus from the penis, which you don't mention.  Herpes theoretically could cause it, but herpes in the urethra typically is excrutiatingly painful and never lasts 7 weeks, 1-2 weeks max.  (I can't tell whether this is the same symptom you described as "tingling" on the community forum.)

Fourth, the variations in skin tone or possible rash on your penis are not consistent with herpes or any other STD.  I can't tell the cause, but some of what you describe sounds like you might just be examining yourself too closely and noticing normal variations in skin color.  In any case, no STD behaves like this.

As for herpes showing up "anywhere on the body" without direct contact, you have a misunerstanding.  Symptoms of initial herpes almost always are exactly at the exposed site, in this case your penis, and generally show up within 3-5 days.  Even recurrent herpes usually occurs near the site of initial infection, not distant body parts.  The anal problem you describe for sure was not herpes, which does not cause a large lesion that drains pus or other fluid.

You had repeated advice on the herpes community forum to see a doctor or clinic in person.  Presumably you have not done that, since you don't mention it.  That also is my advice.  It is pointless to try to figure this out on this forum, elsewhere online, or by self-testing for STDs.  Feel free to let me know what is found by professionally evaluattion -- but until then I doubt I can help any further.  In the meantime, it is doubtful you have an STD or other infection that you caught during the sexual encounter several weeks ago.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
