Need lil help for my HSV test results

by coolpaddy1983, Apr 14, 2008 11:00AM
Dear Doctor ,

I was going throuh your blogs and really I found them very much helpful for youth in India.

Doctor I have a little doubt in my mind , let me tell you briefly. Last year in April I had an untrusted sex but i had used condoms that time. After few months before joining new company I went through medical examination.

The doctor who took my physical examination ask me about my sex life and I told him everything. He was having littile doubt that I am suffering from STD , so he asked me to go through blood test for HIV and HSV.

For HSV Test results were,

HSV 1+2-IgMAb to Herpes simplex    Negative(0.51)
virus,Serum byEIA

HSV 1+2-IgGAb to Herpes simplex    Negative(0.705)
virus,Serum byCLIA

For HIV Test results were,

VDRL :        Non-Reactive
Method :      Rapid Plasma Reagin (RPR) Card Test

Anti HIV I & II : Not Detected
Method :    ELISA.

After this results doctor ensured me that I am not suffering through any disease at all but still I have some doubts.

1] As far as HSV results , My blood do contains anti-HSV bodies. what does it means ?? Can you please tell me will it be transferable to my wife coz I will be getting married soon.

2] Do all human body contains this anti-HSV bodies ??

It will be great help for me if you consults this doubts for me.

Hi there -

This isn't the doctor's forum, but I can help you with this.

Actually, you are negative for hsv.  The numbers don't mean you have some antibodies - its just a way to get a result on the test.  You wouldn't ever get a true zero on a herpes test.  You are negative.

No worries, ok?
