Ok doc thank for your time this is a great service your self and dr hook provide all the best cheers.
"I keep reading how comdoms some times come with minute small holes."
That's an urban myth. Latex or polyurethane condoms do not have pores or holes that allow STDs or HIV to pass.
8 weeks is far too late for onset of ARS. Symptoms always start within 2-3 weeks.
If you are tempted to ask still more "what if", "yes but", or "I just thought of something else" questions: DON'T. There is no information you can provide that would change my opinions or advice. Suck it up and move on --and if you can't, re-read the last paragraph of my reply above.
Thanks for the quick response dr I know every thing you say makes perfect sense and I know it's not possible for me to catch these std wearing a comdom but I keep reading how comdoms some times come with minute small holes and I can't stop thinking about my symptons .dr may I just ask you a couple of quick questions then I won't bother you any more. Does the time scale ie 8 weeks when I started getting sore throat white tounge and general aches and pains in arms and legs and random bouts of fatigue and burning tounge even fit in with ars symptons? And this tiny holes in comdoms I keep reading about on the web have you ever come a gross this in all your years of experience ? Sorry to go on dr
Welcome to the forum.
You have had accurate advice and repeated reassurance about your exposure, both on MedHelp's community forums and from a GUM clinic. Your symptoms have nothing to do with your protected sexual exposure 10 weeks ago, except to the extent that anxiety over that event explains much of what you are experiencing. Your exposure indeed was zero risk and your negatiive tests at the GUM clinc are 100% reliable.
"should I worry about the timing of any of these symptons?" No; see above.
"if I were your patient what would you advise?" To have no further STD testing, stop worrying, stop searching the internet about STD symptoms etc, and continue sex with your wife without worry.
"every time [my wife] coughs or gets a ramdom twinge I keep asking if she's ok witch I getting on her nerves." As well it should. No STD causes symptoms like cough or "twinges", and it is impossible her symptoms have anything to do with your outside sexual exposure.
My final advice is that if you find yourself continue to worry about all this despite the repeated, science-based reassurance you have had from several sources, I would suggest you consider professional counseling. It is not normal to remain so concerned in a situation like this.
Best wishes-- HHH, MD
