Negative test, syptoms(symptoms) still here?

by lotsofQs, Oct 31, 2007 09:54PM
Hello,

On August fourth, 2007 I was in florida visiting my mother when I noticed that I had a itching sensation on the shaft of my penis right below the glans.  It did not start out as a blister, just a little mark, not discolored. After a day or two it turned into a not much but larger scab (prescribed hydrocortisone). When I returned home I went to the family doctor who said it was probably a irritation. So I waited until about the 15th of August and it was beginning to go away but still there. On about the 10th of august, I noticed redness on my glans, no itching, no burning when I pee, but it was a little more sensitive than usual as well as a raised piece of skin on the shaft of my penis that looks like discolored wrinkles that sometimes become raised and proceed down to my scrotum. On the 15th I went to another doctor who tested me for Herpes type I and II with a type specfic blood test and a urinalysis for chylamidia, syphilis, gonnorrehea etc.  All test came back negative.

In late september I donated blood thinking I was clear of all stds.  I never received a call or notice saying anything about any stds.

So I thought I was in the clear and the problems would go away. It is now almost three months since this began, I have not had any more scabs, just the redness on my glans and scrotum and the disclored wrinkle rash on the shaft and about a month ago I notcied a redness around my lips. It did tingle for a day or two but never turned into a cold sore or fever blister and it is still present. I used campho-phenique to treat it, but it is still present.

I went to a dermatologist in late september that took a biopsy of the raised skin   and checked it for HPV, it was negative. Then on october 25th I went to a doctor and he said it might be a Yeast infection. He gave me a weeks worth of Diflucan and some Nystatin cream. The itching did subside for a day or two but then returned. He said it looked like some fungal infection or something. It was still itching so tonight I put some Cruex spray powder on it and it is not itching.

Prior to this experience  the only person I have had sex with is my girlfriend, but it was never unprotected. Although i did perform oral sex on her.  That was about 1.5 months prior to my first syptoms (symptoms).

Before her, the last sexual contact (oral sex) I had was 6.5 months before I started being sexually active with my girlfriend. My girlfriend says she ahs never had any coldsores or syptoms (symptoms) of herpes.

Is it possible that the negative test results were wrong?

Do my syptoms (symptoms) sound like Herpes?

Herpes wouldn't cause non-stop itching for this long. If you are still concerned about herpes then both you and your gf should get type specific herpes igg blood tests to see what each others status's are.

Sometimes the itch cycle is hard to break.  Have you tried taking benadryl before bedtime for a couple of days in a row to try to stop the itching at night?
