ORAL SYMPTOMS
I have oral symptoms that have not gone away. Pain on the bottom left side of my mouth with bumps that I can feel with the tip of my tongue, but I can't see them because they are along the base of my mouth. What can they be? Who can help me? I was very frustrated after having gone to two dentists, a family doctor, and an std specialist.
The first dentist didn't see anything, the next dentist prescribed me an oral rinse and said it might be herpes. That didn't work.
The family doctor didn't see anything either, and the std doctor told me they are common mouth ulcers from eating spicy foods and being stressed out. He said they would go away.
I started taking propranolol at the same time the symptoms occured. I googled the two and found that there was a relation between the two. I just needed peace of mind. So, I forgot about it all. Because it is not really that painful or bothersome, but they have persisted. The propranolol is necessary, so I continue to take it and have asked the pharmacist, and they seemed indifferent.
Recently had a sore on the corner of my mouth. This was the first time. It went away after two weeks. But, it was no normal pimple. It was a classic cold sore. This brought back on my fears that it is something really serious.
Now, i am worried that I have something more serious like oral hpv, hsv, or hiv. Or oral cancer. I have only had the start of the warts that you can not see with the naked eye, and this was removed with a painful chemical. They have never returned in the last ten years as confirmed by my obgyn.
I had one hiv test two years ago. I will have another hiv test soon, probably the one approved to use at home.
Sexual partners: I have had five sexual partners in the context of a monogamous relationship, all of which have been with many more partners than five. Each has been with twenty or more women. Each one lied and told me they had been with three women or less, and later I found out from them there were many more. I had manual sex (fingering and a hand job) with the first one, and protected vaginal sex with the other four. I had unprotected oral sex with the most recent three partners. Also, I told them not to come in my mouth, but each of them did anyway on just one occasion.
Additional information: Two weeks after having vaginal sex for the first time, I was told that I had a vaginal hpv outbreak that could not be seen with the naked eye. It was treated with a chemical. I have never had an outbreak again as confirmed by my obgyn. My partner was told he doesn't have hpv.
I think these tests and attitudes are dangerously misleading. Later I found out that he had not been tested for much at all. There was a visual examination which, yah he had nothing visual to the naked eye. Then a liquid that made him go pee. But no blood test for hsv, hpv, or hiv. I am not so worried about bacterial things because they are not forever. You can get hpv y hsv with skin to skin contact. I am really pissed that the health people tell people that they clean and clear, when really they probably are not. The figures for hpv and hsv are really high. Perhaps this is because people thought they were clean and clear, and they weren't. If he really had been tested for hpv, I think he must be a carrier of hpv because he was my first partner. I want ideas of what else it could be while I am waiting a few more months to rule out all sexual partners for when I have the hiv test.

Nope - tmj doesn't cause mouth issues. You could be biting your inside of your mouth in sleep due to pain from tmj if it's flaring up - that would look like a canker sore inside your mouth. Just bumps inside probably aren't anything all that abnormal and certainly aren't std related at this point.
Chelitis is sometimes a fungal infection. It can even clear up on its own. You can also have it due to reactions to things in modern toothpastes and chewing gums - avoid using the whitening, tartar control, complete and total types and see if that helps.
Definitely if you are concerned about hiv go for the free testing - they usually also include some terrific counseling both before testing and after which you don't often get when you are tested thru a regular doctor.

I was thinking of everything I will have to tell the doctor. Another idea hit me, I have partially diagnosed TMJ. I just never ended up going to the ENT. The dentist and family doctor confirmed it. Could this, along with my wild imagination be another possibility for my symptoms.
I realized that I have similiar bumps on both sides of my mouth. Only one side hurts. Neither side really had bumps that broke open. I really don't have canker sores, or sores at all. They are bumps, and only bumps.
The doctor ordered a head scan during these pain complaints. It came back good. So that rules out immediate thought of cancer. TMJ could give me ear pain with dull lasting pain that goes into just one side of my mouth through the nerves. So, perhaps I am having worsening symptoms as I worry myself sick.
I shouldn't spend the money to get at home results for the aids test. I should just get as many of these tests free through public services. Since I have nothing to fear, but fear itself.
I haven't had sex in a really long time. Maybe having (protected) sex will take away the stress.

I found out that i am getting my private health insurance card in the mail this week, I relocated for a job so I am in the process of finding a new doctor. It is my top priority. I am only thinking so much because I need to think of all possible questions and be persistent as you are suggesting. I can't really voice these fears with people because they will think I am crazy and contagious. These are uncomfortable topics to talk about face to face.

What you need to do is stop trying to figure out what is going on, and get some testing done. There is no way to know what it is without testing.
What I would do, and my approach wouldn't work for everyone, is to plant my happy self in my doctor's office and say that I wasn't leaving without answers, so please start doing some cultures of these things in my mouth, and doing some blood testing. :)
I would have a list with all my questions on it, and I wouldn't leave until my questions were answered.

Nine years ago, I had sex on nov 13th for the first time and on Nov, 25th I was told that I had hpv warts that could only be seen by what ever it was she was looking through. I wanted to see them with a mirror. She said they needed to be treated that moment. She treated me with a chemical. It hurt very badly, and I have never had warts since then. I couldn't believe it either! I thought it seemed impossible that with my history, and having my partner checked right before, I was devasted because I had only been fingered twice before that. I made the guy stop when he wanted to put his finger inside because I didn't want to loose my virginity. I had someone perform oral sex on me and I wrapped myself in plastic wrap.
After having sex the first time, I abstained for nine months after that. I had sex sporadically through out the next few years with the same person. We were together for several years. I was with the next partner for ten months, then six months, and the last one three months. Then with the first again. I always use a condom. for vaginal sex, but for giving and receiving oral sex we did not use anything. They got pissed at me when I wanted to use plastic wrap (because of hpv), and they said they didn't see anything and that they thought it sounded like a mistake and that they didn't care and prefered not to use the plastic wrap.
My good friend is studying medicine, and she looked in my mouth. She has seen hpv in the throat before and told me that she did not see anything. I know that I am a little overconcerned. I googled cheilitis and the sore looked the same, and it then it went away. It is a possiblity. If it is cheilitis and not herpes, the chellitis won't keep reoccurring, and the herpes will come back, no? So only time can tell if it is chellitus.
It has been almost a year since I had sex. I will likely have the HIV test in two months.
The thing in the corner of my mouth went away. But the inside of my mouth hasn't. I was told by the first dentist she saw nothing, the second one it looked like a small herpy like chain, the family doctor saw nothing, and the std specialist said it was alphous? ulcers, since then another dentist said he didn't see anything. I have felt bumps and persistent, dull pain for a year. My intuition does not tell me I have cancer. But, I would like this confirmed professionally. How do I get these folks to test for cancer thoroughly? Do I ask for a culture? Is there anything more I should ask for?
I have been googling. Cold it be shingles. One of my partners had a painful sore on his buttucks in the fall, and later a small rash on his chest in the winter. Less severe than the internet pictures. We have not had sex since last summer. This was the "first" person that I started seeing again briefly. He was not a new partner, but an old one revisited.
Is shingles contagious, considered herpes 1 or 2? what is the low down on this one? Is it considered an std? how do I know for this one? I have had chicken pox so won't the IgG test give me a false reading? Should I consider myself contagious and not be kissing anyone?
To sum up I want the hiv test, the IgG test, a culture, and cancer ruled out.

There is no such thing as oral HIV. That's a systemic infection.
It might be herpes, but that's not a big deal, or serious. Herpes sores don't last longer than a couple of weeks, though. The thing on the corner of your mouth might have been herpes, but it could also have been something called cheilitis. Google it to find out more about it.
I don't have a clue what your doctor was talking about with hpv not seen by the naked eye two weeks after having sex for the first time. Did you have a pap that came back abnormal? It takes months, or longer, for HPV to develop.
There is no test for HPV in men.
