One more question on Antibiotics

Hello again Doc.  I recently posted to you regarding a question on receiving breif oral contact and stds.  I also asked you if minocycline would protect a person from clamydia (chlamydia).

Another question on minocycline...

Would it clear up and protect against Goneria (sorry, can't spell), and syphilis?

It has been going on three weeks and I have shown no symptoms, except one thing... and I have a feeling it is stress related.

I have been having this dull ache in my groin area.  It is just barely above (1/4 in) my genital area and on my left side.  Is this something std related or stress?  I want to reiterate that I only had the one brief encounter.  I also broke down and went to get tested against your advice.  I guess I needed a negative result for my piece of mind.

Thank you again for all that you do.

Minocycline would be fairly effective, but not perfect, in preventing gonorrhea.  It defiitely would prevent syphilis.  Your symptoms don't sound like any STD, though.  My guess is that when a patient suggests stress as the cause of symptoms, s/he usually is right.  Your test results will be negative.

Good luck-- HHH, MD
