Ongoing battle with syphilis....

My gf was diagnosed with syphilis last April, 2015. She went back for follow-up tests (in late April,2015) and was found to have 1:64 parts. She received penicillin (double shots once a week for 3 weeks) last May. Since then have been going back for follow-up tests (July, August and December) and have not seen syphilis drop much. It got to 1:32 and at one point 1:16. In January, 2016 we went in for the test (spinal-tap) to check if the syphilis was in the last stage effecting cognitive functioning. She tested negative for that, which was great news. But still the syphilis is present.

My question is: For later stages of syphilis diagnoses, what is the usual treatment process and time-frame? Should we be getting follow-up treatments? If so, what is the typical time-frame between each set of treatments.

As for me, I have been getting tested with her every time and have tested negative.Which is great news.

Thank you for the advice!

Hi, some of the tests used are for detecting antibodies which will be present for life and always show up with an antibody test so talk to your doctor about which tests were performed.
