Oral from SW

Oral from SW

I'll try to make this as easy to answer as possible. About 4 weeks ago I went into a massage parlor, and recieved unprotected oral sex. I know I don't have HSV1 as I've had cold sores when I was younger. I have had no signs of having any STD whatsoever.

I've been very anxious but that's about it. Four days ago I went to a local strip club and had a lap dance performed on me. Towards the end of the lap dance, ie last minute... My undershirt was untucked and about 1 inch of skin was exposed near my belly button. She was totally nude, and I don't think her skin came in contact with mine but just worried. I didn't see any signs of herpes as well.

I have had protected sex with my wife ever since then. To my knowledge no condom breaks, and no oral or anything else.

I've been so anxious that I went to get tested, and the doctor there told me that from what I told him it would just be cheaper and better if I got the shot for ghonorrea and clamydia (chlamydia). I also asked about syphillus and he said I would know if I had it by now so not to worry about it. I will probably get tested in two weeks just to be sure I'm clean of everything but I'm so worried.
So my questions are:
1) Should I be worried I gave anything to my wife?
2) Could I have contracted HSV2 from what I described at the strip bar?
3) Is getting tested a waste of money from what I've said?

Absolutely identical questions have been asked so many times on this forum.  I hope you will forgive me for very brief responses.  For more detail, search the STD forum threads for "HIV anxiety", "STD anxiety", "HIV transmission risk", "STD transmission risk", "oral sex" and "fellatio".

Bottom line:  You describe very safe sexual encounters that carried almost no risk of HIV or any other STD.  And you are correct that your lifelong history of cold sores means you are immune from catching genital HSV-1 infection.  To answer your specific questions:

1) The risk you have something you could transmit to your wife is too low to even consider.  Your odds of being hit by lightning are higher.

2) I have never encountered a case of HSV-2 infection acquired in the way you describe.  If it happens, it is to rare to worry about.

3) From a medical perspective, testing for STDs would be a waste of money.

Good luck--- HHH, MD

Relax. You are way overreacting. You cannot get chlamydia from receiving oral. Gonnerrea is a small possibility, but you would have obvious symptoms by now. The stripper contact is zero risk. Forget this and move on. In my opinion it is not responsible of your doc to want to treat you without tests or symptoms especially based on your exposure.

Thanx so much for the quick response. There is just so much (conservative) info out on the internet. It's a big sigh of relief to hear these words from a doctor.

Was the doctor right about syphilis showing up by now if I did get it? If so is it possible to transmit it through kissing?

Syphilis takes up to 3 months to cause symptoms or to be sure of a positive blood test.  But quoting from my first reply:  "The risk you have something you could transmit to your wife is too low to even consider. Your odds of being hit by lightning are higher."  This applies to all STDs, including syphilis--which is very rare anyway (except in gay men).

No further responses from me.
