Oral herpes

Last week I split a beer with my buddy who has herpes. I didn't see any active lesions. The next day I had a sore throat and the following day I had a head ache that lasted 3 days with the sore throat and I was tired. I went to the doctor and she said to rest and wasn't concerned at all about herpes. should I be concerned ? It just seems odd that all of this is happening right after and it is symptoms of when a adult is exposed to herpes and I never had a headache in my life.

Hi, do you know what type of herpes he has and also the doctor gave you the best advise as you would not have symptoms the very next day.
