Overly Concerned

The first time I got tested for STD's was May 2009. Since that test the following occurred.
1. June 2009: Engaged in mutual masturbation at a gentleman's club
2. August 2009: Received lap dance from stripper in vegas and sucked on her nipples & engaged in kissing and mutual masturbation with a female friend from town.
3.June 11th/10: Lapdance from stripper touching her body and she may have kissed my face and put her lips near my mouth.
4.July 24th/10: Lap dance from stripper touching her body and she may have kissed my face and put her lips near my mouth.
5.August 28th/10:Lap dance from stripper touching her body and she may have kissed my face and put her lips near my mouth.
6. From the time between being tested the first time in May 2009 till now I have engaged in kissing with a hand-full of girls.

I was tested for all STD's on 10/25/2010. I'm very concerned in regards to how accurate the testing will be in relation to all these events and the timing of these events. Im concerned about all STD's most especially HSV-1 or oral herpes. I have never had any distinct sores or lesions anywhere on my body. Yesterday I noticed a small  thin cut on my lip after breakfast which today has seemed to darken leaving a tiny red dot on my lip & this morning I could see a faint pimple like lesion near corner of my mouth. I'm very concerned Doc, I don't know what to do or expect.

Did you read my previous reply?  The timing of testing has nothing to do with symptoms, only with the last possible exposure.  Since your last possible exposure to HSV was 8/28, you'll have to wait until late November to be tested if you want to be sure you didn't catch it then. But I stress that this is really wasted energy.  Why should you care if you have oral herpes?  Half of all people you know have it.  Big deal.

That's definitely all for this thread.  No more comments will be accepted.

Just one last question Doc, if my last occurence was 8/25 then I wuld have to wait another month for acurate results compared to the test I took 10/21?

The HSV-1 blood test turns positive within 3 months after infection, regardless of symptoms.   If the test is done more than 3 months after your last exposure, a negative result will prove you were not infected, whether or not herpes explains the sore on your lip.

That will be all for this thread.

Doc regarding this small scab on my lip. Will the tests ensure that oral herpes is not prestn, even though this tiny cut/opening came about after testing approx. 3 days after

I think the answers to these additional questions are obvious from my comments above.  But here it is again:  No worries, no need for further testing, and your negative test results will prove you have a clean bill of STD health.

Thank you doc for the prompt response. So you agree I have no worried regarding further testing from my most recent exposures listed. I have recently started dating a young woman who i have strong feelings for. I want to ensure my ability to be intimate with her without having any anxiety about STD's or oral herpes.

Welcome to the forum.  The title you chose for your question says it all:  You are WAY "overly concerned".  There is absolutely no risk of any STD from the events you describe.

Kissing, mouth contact with any part of the body (except genitals), and hand-genital contact do not transmit STDs.  You did not need testing for STDs, but your negative test results are reliable.  Had any test been positive, it would mean you have had some other STD exposures not described here.

Oral herpes due to HSV-1 is not considered an STD.  Sure, you might have been at risk from kissing an infected person, but that could include social kissing of friends just as well as sexual (open mouth) kissing.  The lesions you describe on your lips don't sound like herpes.  Anyway, half of all people have oral HSV-1, mostly acquired in childhood -- so you might already have it, unrelated to the events described here.  Of course if you continue to have oral lesions that concern you, visit a health care provider for diagnosis.

Here is all you need to know about heterosexual activity and STD/HIV risk:  If a bare penis (i.e. without a condom) is not inserted into another person's vagina, anus or mouth, there is no risk.  Here is a thread that discusses the biology of STD/HIV transmission, which will further explain why you were not at risk.  Start reading with the follow-up comment dated December 14:  http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/1119533
