You may not like my answers and advice.  Your symptoms suggest you got an STD, most likely nongonococcal urethritis (NGU).  NGU is often due to chlamydia, but the exact cause usually is unknown.  Gonorrhea is possible but less likely.  Herpes and syphilis are much less likely possibilities but cannot be ruled out.

On the other hand, your question implies your doctor found nothing wrong.  However, you don't say whether s/he looked for things other than prostatitis.  (Did you tell your doctor about your sexual exposure?  It is a common mistake to withhold such information, and for doctors not to ask such questions.)  Also, you don't say whether or not s/he prescribed any therapy; presumably not, or you would have said so.

If tests for chlamydia and gonorrhea were done and negative, your symptoms resolve, and you have not had sex with your wife since the other exposure, nothing more need be done.  Otherwise, you need to avoid having sex with your wife until it is sorted out.  If you already had unprotected sex with her after your contact with the other partner--including the period before your symptoms began--your wife needs to be examined, tested and perhaps treated to protect her health.  Sex with a condom is safer than unprotected sex, but the safest approach would be to avoid all sex until/unless STDs have been excluded.  Also, if you know how to contact the other partner, she also needs to know she should be examined and perhaps treated.

I am aware this may be difficult advice.  But the first priority at this point needs to be protection of your wife's health.
