Thats never fun. I had what looked like a wart on the side of my scrotum for about a year before I seen the Dr for it. He told me it was a "skin tag" and it wasnt a big deal, but he would remove it if I wanted. I set up an appointment for the next month to get removed and told my wife of 8 years all about it. She had not previously noticed it. At the precedure my docs boss said "that is a genital wart, not a skin tag". They removed it and I got to go home and tell my wife. Il just say things got really bad at home for a while.
Two weeks later my dr called and said the biopsy showed it was just a commonCommon cold wart, not the STD kind. Saved my marriage in the nick of time. Good Luck!
