Possible Exposure to STDs at Gynecologist Appointment

Hello, a few days ago I went to my annual gynecologist appointment and after the exam was finished I began to change back into my clothes and (without thinking) inserted my entire finger into my vagina to push my NuvaRing birth control back into place.  I know I touched the wall of my vagina and didn't think anything of it until afterwards when I realized I had not washed my hands prior to this and could have potentially introduced STD/HIV/Herpes that were present in the office...

My questions are
1) what are the risks I could have given myself an STD (in particular Herpes or HIV) by doing this?
2) if in worse case scenario if I had touched someone else's vaginal fluids that had been on the table before me-what would the risk be of transmitting an STD (Herpes/HIV) to myself from this?

Thanks

this was absolutely NOT a risk for any std!!!  there aren't std's laying all over the table/exam room for you to contract something from this.

I agree, I don't think there is any risk.  A lot needs to go wrong for you to get an STD from that situation. (1) someone needed to forget to clean the examine room. (2) the doctor has to forget to use gloves. (3) fluids from a previous patient have to get onto said on cleans examine room. (4) you need to touch this exact spot with your hand. (5) this patient needs to have had some STD that in communicable by fluid contact (6) the virus and or bacteria from this STD needs to survive long enough on an unliving surface for you to pick it up. (7) you need to you that hand to adjust your nuvaring. (8) their needed to be enough "friction" from you adjusting your nuvaring to cause small breaks and allow the virus into your blood stream. (9) you need to be exposed to enough of the virus that you immune system wouldn't stop it entirely.  Bacterial STDs could probably infect you easier since they can multiple outside the human body. but Viral STDs can live longer outside the human body.  so I guess its a toss up. either way i doubt they had that prefect storm they needed to get you :)

There is no risk of any STD related infection from this at all. Please don't worry. Great care is taken to make sure the areas where patients have been are thoroughly cleaned after each person has been seen. Stds aren't as easily transmitted as the Internet likes to suggest. You can be sure you have nothin to worry about.
