Possible chancre

In mid October I had unprotected sex with a woman I did not know.  Early December, I developed a sore on the shaft of my penis.  I only noticed the sore while I was erect.  I originally thought the sore was just a cut, but it hasn't disappeared since I originally discovered it.  The information I have read regarding chancres says that they generally heal within 6 weeks.  My question is, if I've had the sore for 4 months, could it be a chancre?  Thank you.

Its not a chancre or herpes because of the duration of the sore.

A chancre wouldn't last longer than 4 weeks or so, and herpes would clear up within a few weeks, tops.

Thank you for the reply.  Although your response does quell some of my concerns, I'm still a little worried.  Why, exactly, do you think it's probably not a chancre?  Is it because of my description of the sore, or of the length of time.  I realize that I'm probably just being a hypochondriac, but any response would be helpful.  Thank you.

No, its probably not a chancre (syphilis sore), and its not herpes, either.

You should get this checked though.
