Query about chronic urethritis

i've had recurring urethritis for about 2 years now and don't seem to be getting anywhere.  This latest bout started about 6 weeks ago and i left it for a while as the symptoms were mild - no burning just an occasional mild irritation in the middle of the urethra.  It would feel like pressure or a tickle midway down..  I noticed I'm peeing a lot more and the urgency is definitely increased.

I went to the local GUM and was diagnosed with NSU. The Chlamidya and Ghonorrhoea tests have come back negative since.  I was prescribed 7 days of Doxycycillin that I took correctly and during this time the symptoms almost seemed to disappear. but 2 weeks later they've started to return..

I have a doctors appointment tomorrow where i'll ask for either another course of Doxycycillin or Azithromycin as i've read that this can treat NSU when Doxycycillin has failed.

Has anyone else has success with Azithromycin where Doxycycillin has failed or has anyone else found a good solution for chronic NSU??

Hi as you know NSU,s are an infection of the urinary track and to continue to get these infections are most often associated with sexual contact. Other than that they could start in the bladder. What your now describing would more be related to the prostate putting pressure on your urethrea  not an infection. Have your prostate checked. What age are you?
