Question

I 'm a straight male and my question is. Can you get any kind of hepatitis from receiving oral sex or Kissing "from a female" ? i just got my check up and did a Blood test for HIV  and it was negative, my cholesterol was perfect he just told me my  ( i don't know if i am spelling it right or even close lol) "ensign level was alittle high. he asked if i drink, I only  drink maybe one to two beer in a week that is IF i also don't take any meds. He also asked if i had a history of hepatitis or diabetes or mono. He mention something about Fatty Liver. Can this be a sign of hepatitis? He told me i need to go in again for another blood work. Does this sound hepatitis related to you? Any help i will appreciate it.

by the way this is my first time asking and i have read alot of your answers and support here. i am glad to see we have great Doctors to answer concerns people have in their every day life.

God Bless you all

Your abnormal liver test (not sure what ensign is) might be a sign of hepatitis b, but the only way you will know is to have the blood testing done.

Hepatitis means inflamation of the liver (hepa means liver, itis means inflammation).  There are lots of things that can cause hepatitis, and viral hepatitis (a, b and c if you are in the US) are only 3 causes.  As your doc was asking about, mono, alcohol use, fatty liver, etc., can all cause it.

Not if they didn't test for it, which its not likely they did.

Its doubtful its hep b, and the enzyme test could indicate any one of those things I mentioned.

I know you are anxious, but I can't really say it any other way.  I can't diagnose you on the internet - no one can - and the only way you will know for sure is to have the testing done.

If you are 31, you might not have had the vaccines.

I would recommend that you test first, then talk to your doc about the vaccines.  Clearly, there is something going on, and finding out what it is can only be determined by further testing.

Good luck!

Its POSSIBLE to get hepatitis B from oral sex, but as I understand it, having hep b will make you very sick.  There is also a vaccination for it which you might have received as a child, depending on your age.

Go back in and have the blood work done to find out what's going on.  That will be the best way to determine what is wrong.

Good luck.
