REALLY NEED SOME ADVICE HERE

I had unprotected sex with a good friend of mine at Uni, about 2 weeks afterwoods I had a yellow/whitish type drop out of my penis in the morning. I immediatly though: chalmydia/ ghonorrea. I didn't get checked for this. Instead I took 14 days of Doxyclycine and 1 dosage of Ciprofloxacin(i know you are meant to take about 250mg and CDC recommend 500mg but i took a 750mg pill. After a few days all the symptoms went away. i then went out on a friends brithday and got very drunk. then next morning with a hang over i began to get a twitching pain in the urethra. The discharge has still totally finished. A week has now passed and the twitching has gone, it has turned into a general dull ache - i cant work out where the ache is it seems generally inside below my bladder. I assumed the because the discharge is gone the infeciton is gone. But i still have a dull ache. I am therefore going to take Flagyl incase of Trichomoniasis and nongonococcal urethritis. Conclusively I would say my symptoms after the doxy and cipro have gone, just a dull ache, but I was hoping this was just the healing phase, i finished the Doxy 3 days ago and read it can take a month to heal. When i am busy i dont notice it and i am a major worrier, so i thought it was anxiety. but i dont think it is at the moment. What do you think all this could be? Thankyou so much for reading this :-).

I agree with your first impression, anxiety.  The symptoms don't sound like ongoing infection, and in any case you have overtreated yourself already.  Trichomoniasis is unlikely; I wouldn't take metronidazole, assuming you have continuing access to prescription drugs without actual prescription.

Also too bad you treated yourself without a specific diagnosis, which is of obvious importance to your partner.  I trust you have spoken with her/him (you don't say whether you have sex with men or women) and suggested s/he get examined, tested and treated.

Sorry... to be more heplful, the symptoms i initially had were the discharge, and burning on urination. I had no spots, legions etc. I have noticed just now that if i squeeze my urethra hard it feels rather raw. (i think it is this causing the ache and i have worked out it is in my urethra at the base of my penis). I havent anymore symptoms: No discharge, No itching, No painful urination.

Yes, continued squeezing and "milking" the penis, looking for discharge, can cause pain and perhaps even false signs of urethritis.  Avoid the temptation and your symptoms like will resolve.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

ok well what a year I have had!  3 urologists later I am still not positive I am cured or found the right meds. But I do feel encouraged.

After testing pos for Gonorhea 1 yr ago was treated at a STD clinic and felt ok for a while

Keep in mind I haven't tested positive since for about 1 year with many many tests -  nothing grows in any of my tests.

I was treated with -- Cipro, Ceflax, Zithromax, Doxycycline, Erythromicin, Levaquin to name a few.  Levaquin was for 2 months!  Doses varied and I usually encouraged the Docs for the higher ones b/c I tolerate very well.

NOW - the 3rd uroligist was aggressive in getting an IVP and doing a Cytoscopy which showed a terribly inflamed urethra but no anatomical issues - I was encouraged

sooo just this dull ache in my left testicle, my left ham string is tight as hell and back pain.

Sadly this same urologist has been ultra conservative in treating me -  so far only Doxy 6 weeks (again) and then Erythro..
I am so frustrated with this!

I call 5 weeks into taking the Doxy saying zero progress and he won't even take my call or prescribe anything else until 3 weeks later when I go back for a follow up.  What a **** pardon the pun

Glimmer of hope -  After finding some research on US CDC about persistent NGU- There was a megadose of Metronidazole- Thanks to my G.P. who actually will see me and talk to me-- I took 2Mg and did feel GREAT for a few days but now back to baseline

so I begged my GP to give me the Metronidazole for 10 days at 500MG biD  I am into day 2.5 and feel MUCH better so much so!

Am I onto something?  Is it trick?  AGAIN I NEVER test for ANYTHING so it's guess work from here for even the Urologist.

ANY info you can provide is so appreciated!
