Really red scrotum

My scrotum is bright red. It burns sometimes.  I thought it was jock itch so my Dr. Gave me clotrimazole and betamethasone.  That seems to have just made it even more red and sore. I have had an escort lick the scrotum and have had oral with a condom on. Is this most likley a bacteria infection or a break out of an STD? I don't see any open sores on the scrotum just fire red. If I posted a picture do you guys look at it?

Thanks

Thaks for the additional information.  The leathery appearance is because there is swelling of the scrotal skin.  It will get better as the underlying process improves.

It sounds as though the cream may be making you worse, not better.  Steroid creams like this can cause fungal infections to get worse. This may well be what is going on.  Sometimes typical OTC medications for jock itch are not sufficient to cure fungal skin infections, you may want your doctor to take a look.

This is not an STD.  No STD would be causing this sort of rash for 2 months.

Hope this is helpful.  EWH

Hard to say without looking.  If they ar connected, you have some sort of systemic dermatologic problem.  Or it could be coincidence.  It needs to be looked at to sort out.  Not an STD however.  EWH

Thank you for the follow up. This was very helpful. I don't know if this would be connected buy there have been 2 quarter size pink rashes show up on my ankle. Would those in anyway be connected to this?  This will be my last post. Thanks again doctor.

Also the skin looks rather dry and leathery. Kinda like an old women who has tanned for 80 + years.

Thank you for the quick reply. I have visited massage girls or escorts for close to 3 years.  I stopped for good about 2 months ago. The scrotum has been pretty red for close to 2 months. I went into my Dr.s and he gave me the above mentioned cream. I have used it close to a week. The scrotum has become even more red now with a slight burning sensation on the left side.  I have put on over the counter jock itch as well as neosporin in the past. I am at a loss now. The tip of my penis head is also a liitle more red then usual. Again thanks for your help.

Welcome to our Forum.  your post is not clear on how long your scrotum has been red or whether or not the redness has progresses- I note that you first asked about this about 3 days ago.  Is this when it began?  Did you put anything on it before this occurred?, have unusual contacts before it started or are there other historical facts that you can provide to help me make some suggestions.

My guess is that this is not an STD. There are no STDs that would cause isolated scrotal inflammation.  A fungal infection could do this. So could an allergic reaction.  If it is due to a fungal infection the betamethazone could actually make it worse.

Looking forward to more information from you.  EWH
