Yes, Mandy, that is a possibility. Oral chlamydia is uncommon, but yes its a possibility.
He would need to be tested and treated.
Amazona - That's true, but that is a very rare cancer, as stated in the article. In the US, I think there are only about 40,000 diagnosed with this each year, and they are guessing that 10,000 of those are from oral HPV.
I know some of this stuff is scary, but its important to keep it in perspective. If you started reading about everything that might cause cancer, you'd never leave the house.

I just found an article on webmd saying that you can also get HPV in your throat and that it could, depending on the strain, cause cancer.

So if I have chlamydia could I have passed it on to my partner through him giving me oral sex ONLY?
I am so confused with all of this!
If he does have chlamydia in his throat can it spread through his body and cause complications if not treated. What symptoms would he have to look for, is there a need to treat it if I have been treated?
Surely its not as complicated and dangerous being in the throat only, if not treated could he pass it back on to me in the future?
Thanks in advance
It depends on the infection.
And its treated the same as if it was genital, and no, an oral infection won't show up in urine. You'd need specific oral testing.

So how do you treat in then? - could my partner have caught it through giving me oral sex if I have it?! How would we know he contracted it - would it show up in his urine?! And what would be the treatment for this?
It is quite confusing to me...
What are the chances that I would transmit infection to him through oral sex ALONE?
Hi there -
Yes, you can get stds in your throat, and if you perform oral sex on someone else, they could get it. Its not at all likely to pass by kissing.
The infections you could get orally are syphilis and gonorrhea. Your doc can do a blood test for syphilis, which will tell you if you have it anywhere, and an oral swab for gonorrhea.
Insist on it. A lot of docs miss that step, so make sure you insist on it.
And good for you for getting more info so you can be informed when you go for testing.
