Regrettable sexual experience - STD Risk?

Hello,

I am a 30 year old male with no history of STDs. I'm posting here because 3 weeks ago I had a sex with an escort. We had oral sex with a condom to get me hard, and then vaginal sex with a condom and lubricant which lasted only a couple of minutes. About a week after this encounter a got a tingling sensation in the tip/head of my penis, and that night had to urinate frequently. I became very stressed out, and spent the night researching possible causes online. The next day I went to the doctor of a walk-in clinic and told him about the experience. He said it was unlikely I contracted anything but prescribed me a dose of azithromycin. They took a urine sample to check for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and a UTI. He told me I didn't have to take the antibiotic, but suggested I take it as a precaution, as chlamydia rates had been high in the area recently. The results came back negative a few days later. However, after meeting with the doctor I've had various symptoms that have been causing me a great deal of stress. The frequent urination lasted only that night, while the tingling sensation seems to subside and then return occasionally, but weakly. I discovered a red dot between my thigh and genitals the same day I met the doctor, and went to a sexual health clinic the next day to have it swabbed for a herpes test. The dot disappeared within a couple days. There's some redness around the head of my penis and in the area above my anus (between my anus and testicles). I've also had soreness in my thighs which also lasted only a few hours. For about 3 days after seeing the doctor I didn't get an erection in the morning, and when my erection returned it felt warm (not really a burning, but an abnormal feeling coupled with the tingling in my penis). The week after having this scare I felt mostly better, with just the redness on my penis/near anus persisting, but this past weekend the area above my penis has been sore, as has my right thigh. I've been taking acetaminophen/ibuprofen for this pain that has lasted for about 2 days.

I've went back to the walk in a couple times to ask them what could possibly be the issue. The second doctor mentioned it sounds a bit like a yeast infection, but counselled me to wait until the herpes test came back and if negative then I should come back in if my condition was still bothering me. I never got a call about the results, and so assume they were negative. I returned to the clinic and a third doctor looked at my penis and area around my anus. He said it simply looks irritated and it doesn't suggest herpes. He told me to follow up with my family doctor if I'm still concerned. I've booked an appointment with my family doctor for this Wednesday.

I'd like to ask if this sounds like it could be herpes. I've read online that herpes can manifest in a mild outbreak and then manifest afterward in its typical form with blisters and a lot of pain and flu symptoms. My biggest concern is the redness that seems to be persistent. Does this indicate herpes? Is it possible that my stress/anxiety is causing these symptoms?

Thank you in advance

Thanks Life360_Dave for your response. I've mentally jumped back in forth between accepting I've acquired an STD and the idea I'm simply just too stressed. Anxiety and stress can really have this big of an impact then?

Hi, none of what you mention suggests herpes at all but stress and anxiety are causing your symptoms.
