Risk of STD

I am a 30 years old male. I had an unprotected oral fellatio, I being the insertive partner with a sex worker in July 2010. I had a fever the next day but it was most likely because of change in temperature. Fever lasted only a day and from day 2 or 3, I was perfectly all right. After that I had unprotected oral sex with my GF then (wife now) many times and protected vaginal sex. After that I had two sexual encounters with prostitute in recent months, but all of them with protection during both oral and intercourse. I never had any symptoms of Gonorrhea or Chlymadia or herpes (sometimes sores in mouth but I use to have them earlier as well before I was sexually active and never had any penile sores) except that sometimes I have very small blood on the napkin after the going to stool. My questions what are my chances of catching gonorrohea chlamydia, herpes? I had gone for testing today for all these diseases as well as HIV. Also, my wife plans to join me and we plan to have unprotected sex. If I come positive for any of the STD, we will test for her as well. But in case, I am negative shall we still go for her testing?

Hi and welcome. First of all your unprotected oral was 3 years ago so throw that out as a reason for testing since no symtoms and at that the risk was low.
With more recent protected, condoms are very effective in the spreading of diseases but i think getting tested for non std like herpes and syphlis is a good idea for your wifes protection. They being low risk, normally no testing is recommended with out symptoms.

As far as your wife getting tested not a bad idea whether your positive or not. Look at it as a check up.

7 days is the earliest  and after that the more chances it will show as is growing. If you take them around 10 days your good to go.

One quick question - How reliable are test for Gonorreah and Chlamydia when taken after 80-90 hours after potential exposure? If they are negative, then should I take another test is some other window period?

Thanks!

Got the test results back. I was negative for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Hepatitis B and Syphilis. They did not test for herpes. I am pretty sure that I do not have Chlamydia and Gonorrhea which are most positive in first few days. For syphilis, I will take home kit test and would put the results...

thanks guys for helping me in tough situation...

Thanks for your comments. I did post in herpes forum but some of the forum member asked me to put it up here...i am getting tested for herpes as well. I just want to know two thing -
1) My risk in terms of catching without any apparent symptoms

2) The reliability of blood test for herpes.

Thanks...will post my test results here as and when i will get them...

Hi again, you should post this in the herpes forum as is specific. But if your having a full screening anyway,  throw in the herpes also as you did have 2 other affairs with prostitutes.

As recommended by another member, I would post herpes question in this forum. I need to know my chances of catching herpes virus by a single incident of kissing a stranger and a single incident of unprotected oral sex. After kissing, I have no symptoms and this is 5th day after the incident. The unprotected oral sex was 3 years ago and have no sores on penile area but do not remember any oral sores. Please answer...thanks in advance..

With the 3 affairs you had you were at risk for syphlis also. Might as well get that one out of the way now.
As mentioned with the 3 affairs you were at  risk but so low i would not be worried.
But always use a condom when you stray from the path, no matter what.

Thanks for your comments. I am getting tested for HIV, Hepatitis (though I have vaccination), HSV or HPV (not sure), Gonorreah andChlamydia. Do you think I should also test for syphlis? Doctor did not asked me for this..

I will ask my wife to get tested, it cannot hurt as we are planning soon for a baby as well...

But just one more thing, do you think I am at any risk, given my situation? Or should I worry about something?
