Risk of getting STD from unprotected oral sex and protected vaginal sex

Hello doctors,

I have been reassured that HIV risk from unprotected oral sex is very low. However. What are the risk for other STD from these acts? Recently I did something very worng. I received a brief oral sex (1-2mins) from a prostitue in Hong Kong and then we had vaginal sex for 5-6mins. I didn't ejiculate during the oral nor the vaginal sex cause I felt horrible. There is no symptoms so far (7 days since this stupid act). So I have two questions:

1. What are the std risks involved?
2. How risky are they?
3. At this point what kind of tests should I get?

Thanks for your kind attention and I felt very worried these days. Hope this would draw your attention.

A worried person

Thanks for your information. My situation didn't go bad in these two days and it turns better. Although when I swab on the small rash, I still feel a little bit itchy. I also told the situation to my family and they also reassured me and supported me. All the best and will keep u updated

Glad to read its getting better.
I just got my report back and the balanitis is caused by Staphylococcus aureus, which is a common bacteria that can be found on skin. There are many reasons for catching this bacteria and probably it's due to the unprotected oral sex. The doctor reassured me again that my situation is not serious and he gave me another ointment and pills (should be another type of antibiotics). It is a one-week treatment and the doctor told me to do a full panel test in the following two weeks after the treatment in case the result get affected by the medicine.

I also told him that it's been 16th day since my last exposure and that was my very first time to do such silly attempts. I assumed I was clean before this incident since I am not a sexually active person (I had sexual experience with two girlfriends before and no prostitute experience before this incident). Therefore, the doctor said it's not very likely that you catch STD from observing my current symptoms . But anyway I insisted to do a full panel test in week 5 after my exposure. I will update my result and any symptoms changes here.
Wow at least you know what it is! You can now tackle it. My doctor said I should carry on with Dakacort. And would give stronger steroid cream if that doesn't work within 14 days. No swaps taken and he said a biopsy will leave scarring. Thanks for your info. Keep me updated. Cheers.
Glad to have the results backed and was tested negative for common STDs. The balanitis disappeared a week ago and it has been 7 weeks since my exposure. I have no sexual activities during these weeks and will check for HIV and syphilis again in 3 months after my exposure.

Thanks for the information. I've got an appointment with my doctor on Tuesday next week and I will ask him to take a sample.

Our condition may be nothing at all but for me I would rather get past the constant worrying phase ...and get tested for all the STD's. If I get peace of mind it would help me mentally. If positive then I suppose one can start to monitor the cause. In my opinion it isn't good to be ignorant for one self and future partners.  But that is just my opinion. Not everyone has the same outlook.

Hello. Thanks for your recommendation. Today I told my girlfriend that I may have STD symptoms and she accepted and said will support me as always. This time was my very first time to try a prostitute and this will definitely be the last time.

Talking about my case, the doctor already reassured me that it is not very serious. Tonight would be my third time to apply the ointment given by the doctor (Neomycin). My skin turns less red and it still does not fell itchy. It seems that the ointment works for my case. But anyway for my long term health I definitely will still take a full STD test.

Last but not least, I wish you good luck too and I hope that you would be fine. I will pray for you.
Being a Christian myself I would appreciate the prayer. Be careful about using steriodal cream as it can cause permanent scarring and thinning of penis gland. Google this. Also check the following link out to:

He gave me a cotton swabs and told me to rotate it on my glans for a few times. Then he gave me a ointment called neomycin for me. He told me to apply it in the morning and at night on the rash. He reassured me that the rash indeed not serious. By still I'm very worried atm And yes I will keep you guys updated

Also for your information, my penis got rubbed yesterday night due to masturbation yesterday night. Also I've been excessively cleaning my foreskin area these days during shower, will these be the reasons for the balanitis?

That might be the cause of the redness and balablntisis altogether.

You're okay.

Thanks for your reply. However just now I went to see the doctor because I found the foreskin of my penis turns a little bit red although it is not itchy. I immediately consulted the doctor and revelaed my past sex history (including this stupid act). He interpreted this as balanitis (which I had before). I asked is it a sign of getting herpes or gonorrhea but he said most likely no. The reason is that i didn't feel any burning sensation during urination nor I felt any abnormal sensations on my genital area in these ten days. However im still very scared. Is it possible for one to get mild balanitis from sexual activities? Or is it possible that the balanitis is one of the std symptoms? I am even more worried now and decided to take a full test after 21 days of my exposure ( as suggested by my doctor)

If you are wanting a full STD screening then I would wait at the very least 28 days (make sure it is a 4th Gen HIV testing) and then again after the 3 month period. This is mainly for HIV and Syhilis purposes. I think Balantisis can be sexually related...after all they don't know what causes it. Generalised in my opinion.
Thanks. I feel super guilty and bad. The doctor took some sample today and he said there will be a report about the cause of the Balantisis on this coming Friday. I hope everything goes well and I am 100% sure I won't attempt any danger sex in the future.....
Easier said than done in reality but hopefully lesson learnt.

I would wait at least 28 days (unless you are presenting with symtoms) from the encounter to get tested for STD's and then again after the 3 period from exposure to be 100% sure of the results.

I hope it goes well.

Thanks for ur reply. I will still visit a doctor tomorrow to check. I will update my results of testing here so that the others can also make them as references.

The only risk here is possible HSV1 exposure. But i doubt you contracted it from a one time encounter.

Don't let paranoia beat you down. I know how you feel. Not sure, if you made the right move, contemplating the scenario over and over convincing yourself that you made a cautious.

Go in peace. If you still feal unsure take a STI screening in a few months.
