Dr,
The swab test came back negative. Just to finalize:
the unprotected oral (me to her) cunnilungus and annilungus, and frottage unprotected. Should I take more tests? (considering my tests HIV and Herpes after 5 days came back negative - meaning from my prior exposures).
Thank you
D.
Thank you. Don't bother answering my prior post. You are very helpful. I mean it. and I really appreciate your expertize. Enjoy your WE!
Thank you I will try. Jus to clarify, there a maybe 10/12 very small bumps doesn't look white inside. Each bump is 1/4 of a mm and the whole zone is maybe 1/5 a cm.
Almost certainly this isn't herpes; I'm confident the test will be negative. Stay relaxed over the weekend.
A blister is a blister (the medical term technically is vesicle). Just like a traumatic blister, it would appear as a bubble-like lesion filled with clear fluid. Typical lesions are 1-3 mm in diameter. You wouldn't miss it, or having any trouble recgonizing such lesions.
Yes swab sorry for HSV testing. He asked me if it hurt when he took the sample. I said no it did not at all. Then he said it doesn't look like it but he is a generalist. He didn't seem to know a lot. But he said it doesn't look like it. I asked him if this was like a blister, he said not really. But I have a hard time figuring out what it would be like if it was a blister. I have a picture form this morning and it looks like a small bump and there may have been some liquid. But the lighting was right on it. I am just very worried but there is not much I can do. I would love to see a dermatologist but its Friday afternoon and for the results he said tuesday. I can't concentrate at work. I am very worried.
What did the doc say about it? Did s/he suspect herpes? Presumably you mean swab, not stab. For HSV testing?
I just went and they took a stab. I have to wait until Tuesday. Now I am getting worried. Do you know someone I could send a photo to that could look at it?
Thank you
Thank you. My exposure was 10/11 days ago. And thinking about it when the girl was running herself on me even if she had her hand there definitely could have had direct exposure. I just know that there was no imsertion fr sure. I just noticed it today but didn't look that closely for it before. It looks abnormal. My doctor is not in today. So I am at urgent care. It is really hard to have support here. I am from a dr family in my country but here I don't have any one. The other thing is that the blood test came back negative Tuesday so I probably didn't have it before. That helps me narrow the time of potential infection. I am waiting here.
This doesn't sound like herpes. If it is, then over the next 24 hours, the red bumps will enlarge and turn into definite blisters; if that doesn't happen, then you can be sure it isn't herpes. Also, it can't be a new herpes infection if that exact part of your penis did not contact a partner's genitals. Finally, new herpes symptoms usually within 3-5 days of exposure and rarely more than 2 weeks. If there has been no sexual exposure during these times, then it isn't new herpes. (Of course I have no way of knowing whether you might have previously been infected with HSV-2, and are now having a recurrent rather than initial outbreak.)
If you are convinced the area looks abnormal -- i.e. that you're not just looking too closely and noticing normal variations in skin color -- I would suggest you call your doctor's office and tell them what's going on. They might be able to see you today. Whether or not that happens, do not manipulate, rub, or otherwise do anything to the affected area before your doctor sees it, and do not treat it with any medication, ointments, or creams of any kind.
Dr,
I know you wanted me to stop writing but I really am scared now for one reason. I have noticed this morning while looking closely on the back of my penis (the shaft) a small collection of very tiny red bumps (could be considered blisters). There are maybe 10-12 tiny ones. in a small area. I am really scared. I have taken an appointment with a doctor on Tuesday (they can't see me before). I have read a lot about early symptoms of Herpes and for now that's all. I don't have anything else. I could have entered into connection with her vagina while she was rubbing on top of me. How can I look for signs of herpes based on this?
It isn't a bother, but experience that allowing continued "what if" questions just prolongs users' anxiety. Better to just bite the bullet and move on.
MERCI. and again I didn't mean to bother you again.
The risk of herpes in this situation is exceedingly low, and I recommend against testing for it. The HSV blood tests are far from perfect, and in someone at such low risk as you are, the chance of a false, misleading result is a lot higher than the possibility you were infected.
You may not return indefinitely with every additional anxiety-driven thought that comes to mind. That will end this thread. And that's not an invitation to start a new thread with the same questions. It's time for you to move on.
I am sorry to re-reach out but I want to clarify something. The more I read the more I am worried. I did not mention that during my last encounter in London with a sex worker because I did not even think there was any risk but then I am ready about herpes and getting worried. Besides the unprotected oral from me to her she did protected oral to me. We did masturbate each other mostly with lubricant and then shortly she was on top of me rubbing herself on me but she was using her hand on my penis at the same time (no condom). It was not directly on her genital. There was absolutely no insertion whatsoever.
My worry now is about herpes. I just got the test back negative (but it was taken 5 days after). I haven't had any symptoms. It has been 10 days. What are my risks. What should I do in terms of testing.
Thank you so much for your help.
D.
Thanks for the thanks; I'm glad to have helped. Take care.
Thank you. I just wanted an interpretation because all the text in addition to the result was not very clear. I Appreciate your comments and I REALLY appreciate this forum and others. You are definitely helping fill a hole in the field regarding information and education on risks and others.
Thank you
Those test results are negative. As for your continuing anxiety, there's not much I can do except to repeat that you had a zero risk exposure and shouldn't be so worried. I suggest you re-read my reply above, as well as the information in the other threads I linked. There's nothing more I can do.
Dr, please help me in interpreting this I am so stressed out. PLEASE... I have noone to talk to. The people on the phone are so cold and seem to not know much. My last exposure (oral sex unprotected) was 5 days before testing so I know its too early. What should I do. Can I rest. My heart beat is going so fast
HIV AB, HIV 1/2, EIA,
WITH REFLEXES
NON-REACTIVE NON-REACTIVE
A Nonreactive HIV-1/2 antibody result does not exclude HIV infection since the time frame for seroconversion is variable. If acute HIV infection is suspected, antibody retesting and nucleic acid amplification (HIV DNA/RNA) testing is recommended.
HSV 2 IGG HERPESELECT AB (in range: 0.15, reference Range 0.00-0.89
This assay is type specific and will differentiate between HSV-1 and HSV-2 infections. A single positive result only
indicates previous immunologic exposure and the level of antibody response may not be used to determine active
infection or disease stage. The test should be repeated in 4-6 weeks when negative or equivocal results are obtained in suspected early herpes simplex disease. The performance of this assay has not been established for
pediatric populations, for neonatal screening,or for the testing of immunocompromised patients.
Interpretation: Negative
HSV-2 genital infection roughly doubles the risk of HIV, if exposed. HSV-1, the usual cause of oral herpes, has no influence on HIV risk. In any case, with the virtually zero risk of the exposure described, whether or not you have herpes will make no difference.
Thank you Dr
This is helpful and as you already know people like me that make the effort to read about this can't be relieved 100% with out test results. I really hope everything is going to be fine. I am also testing for Herpes which my wife had which I believe I may be positive. But the question is if we assume that I had herpes would that increase risks?
Welcome to the forum.
You haven't read any "conflicting threads" on this forum about the STD/HIV risks of oral sex in general or cunnilings in particular. A consistent theme in this forum is that oral sex is safe sex in regard to HIV and low to zero risk for other STDs. A few cases of HIV may have been acquired by the oral partner performing fellatio on a partner with HIV, but there are no documented cases of transmission from oral to penis, or by cunnilingus, either giving or receiving. Analingus is similar -- no known HIV transmissions and few if any STD infections. Below is a link to a thread that summarizes these issues in detail; as you will see, it contains links to still other threads. Read all the discussions -- the important information often is in follow-up comments, not initial answers.

I would also add that it is statistically unlikely that partners like yours have HIV, so most likely you weren't exposed to HIV at all. And your symptoms do not concern me at all; almost certainly you had a garden variety viral infection, not HIV or any other STD. You can expect your STD tests to be negative (genital infection is impossible by cunnilingus or analingus)
I hope this has helped. Let me know if any concerns remain after you have also read the information in the linked threads.
Best wishes-- HHH, MD
